Remaning in class B airspace while on approach

Hey people got a question.

Background:
121 operation.
A321 a/c
On approach.
Cleared for the visual
IFR flight plan.
Clear and 10

Before entering class B airspace, a/c is cleared direct to a fix just before the FAF, expecting a visual. Pilot does direct to in the FMS, clearing out all the waypoints and altitudes leading up to this fix. A short time later, aircraft is cleared for visual apporach.

At some point, aircraft descends below a class B shelf.

Were any regs broken? In other words, is there a requirement to remain in class B airspace on a visual approach in a 121 turbofan aircraft? I searched CFR 121 and found nothing.

Not unless it's in your gom or some nonsense.
 
Speed limit, 200 knots under the Bravo - I know it is not "noticed" much, but it is a reg.

I know that wasn't the point of the post but it may apply.

FAR 91.131(a)(2):
Unless otherwise authorized by ATC, each person operating a large turbine engine-powered airplane to or from a primary airport for which a Class B airspace area is designated must operate at or above the designated floors of the Class B airspace area while within the lateral limits of that area.

I would say that barring ATC giving you a specific restriction on the visual that would preclude you from remaining above the floor of the bravo, then you would in fact be breaking a reg. Also, you have the 200kts below the floor restriction that may or may not be a factor.

Unless you are specifically exempted or modified by your GOM or Part 121, Part 91 regs are still required to be complied with.
 
The SLC class B was changed a few years ago to address this exact problem for runway 17.

The key point in the Part 91 reg mentioned are the words "primary airport". I know the OP doesn't mention to which airport the approach was being made nor is there a mention of which airport is "primary".

So I have to ask: In the OP's scenario, can't I make an approach into a satellite airport that takes me in and out of "B" airspace and still meet the reg mentioned?

Sorry, I made that assumption based on the OP's scenario. You are correct, if you are going to a satellite airport you are fine going into/out of class B.
