Long shot, but looking for opportunities in the AZ area this fall/winter. ~500hrs ~90multi CFI/I Float Tailwheel. Not looking to join any of the larger academy's for CFI work. Not looking to get to the the standard airlines.

Would love to get jump pilot experience, but finding it hard to get 'in'. Scenic tours. Survey. Advanced flight training. Ferry Pilot. Just looking to fly a bit.

Cheers
Travis

I think one of the Grand Canyon tour operators was hiring for a position that lasts until Nov recently assuming you meet VFR 135 mins. Though, I can't remember which one....all I remember is that they operate 207's.

Very little. I haven't heard many good things is the only thing I can say. Plus, it's Page...
You mind PMing me what you've heard? I'd like to get into the air tour business and AZ would be a perfect place for me

edit: nevermind, a simple google search turned up some stuff

I saw some stuff in the ad I wasn't crazy about. Somehow the word "tips" when describing compensation for a professional flying job doesn't sit too well with me...

There are a few drop zones around the area. Coolidge and Eloy drop quite a bit.

Eloy requires 1000TT+ but they are looking for pilots but only full-time pilots. I fly jumpers just outside of Phoenix so I'll keep you updated if I know of anything in the area.

Where do you drop at? Didn't realize they required such high time.

Flying skydivers is fun, so nothing really wrong with it. Just bad pay for the most part. Skydive instructors made more than the pilot. Plus, I worked for a not so good boss. But what do I know, I'm getting out of aviation. The kinds of jobs I actually like to do are considered time builders and thus paid and treated accordingly. Good luck.

I fly jumpers out of skydive phoenix, we fly 182's, 206's, and a 208 . Eloy flys all turbine aircraft now that's why their minimums are so high.

It is what it is. It's a good time builder I average about 35 hours a week of flying but the pay sucks and a lot of times you work 6-7 days a week.

Yeah I talked with him end of March about the job. $1000 for training and 6 month contract even though I had more than 200 hrs in all his planes and 500 skydive experience. No thanks. I'd fly skydivers for a living if you could make decent money, but everything is geared towards building time for the airlines. Which is why for me aviation is broke. Oh well. Like you said, build time and move on.

Thanks god I'm not the only one that thinks this way. I, in no way, want to do airlines. I LOVE banner towing but the pay isn't great at all. I always asked for a fair pay for fair work and that's an extreme rarity.

I know for a fact that skydive arizona has pilots flying the otters and sky van with less than 500 hours total time.
I too am looking for work in AZ. I hold SIC types in challenger 300 and citation sovereign with 1500 hours. I was too busy flying jumpers to get my ATP written done as well.
