Sunglasses

Looking for recommendations for inexpensive sunglasses that work well for flying, as in comfortable and where the polarization doesn't interfere with windshield or displays. I stopped buying Ray Bans, etc. because I lose or break them.

Ebay Foakleys :)

Then again, if you're a veteran or know one (or active duty, reserves or a cop) you can use the Oakley standard issue site and get the real ones fairly cheap, $60-$80.

Had the same pair for six years, I just buy new ebay non polarized lenses one a year cheap

Serengeti drivers gradient non polarized Aviators. Not cheap, not that expensive when you consider the quality of them, how many years they will last, how comfortable they are with headsets, how they feel, how well you will be able to see in various wx/environments, and they have spring hinges. Get a hard case for them.

^^ What I got, and they are just as good if not better than my old $500 Oakleys.

I found a pair on eBay for $100. Are those the Serengeti's you guys are talking about?

They look the same in tint, frame and by description, but I have the medium lens size which looks larger than the photo on ebay and in looking on the frame mine say 6826 and the lenses are a bit more tear drop shape and a bit larger. So my model number may just be the larger size lens/frame. Look for the 6826 and compare them.

I love my Serengeti frames, I had to put Rx lenses in mine so I can't speak for the quality for the lenses, but the frames are by far the best I've ever had for sunglasses.

Also I bought them at Sam's club, they were less than $80 before the RX lenses, their sunglasses selection isn't the greatest but you can get some name brand ones for much cheaper than say Sunglass Hut.

Cheap sunglasses that are also good? Good luck.

Edit: If $100 is reasonable for you, I'd also try the Randolph Aviators with the gray lens. They're light and they work surprisingly well in a high contrast environment.

American Optical eyewear on Amazon. Roughly $50. When I was flying the 145, polarized lenses worked great. But when I switched to the 170, I either have to wear non-polarized or fly with my head cocked sideways!

I've been happy with my AO sunglasses. Plus, they look "piloty."

AO Optics are about $50 on Amazon. I like my M Frames, I've had them for about 12 years now and they're still kicking.

Just bought a pair of the Serengeti Velocity online. Found a decent deal. Sounds like they will work great and I won't be disappointed.

Thanks for all the help and recommendations!
