Not to say he's a lying liar.... but:
And I see they are going for a 737 amount of flaps setting on the 787. Wow!
Is that good or bad, explain please.

I was more talking about this comment that you made, is this good or bad?
It's very McDonnell-Douglas-y. Something that perhaps didn't really need to be that complex but has those extra factors added in. I found the multitude of flaps settings on the 737NG annoying. But hey, if they are using those to add to the performance of the plane- let's see it.
Seriously... no Airbus hate. But the A350 demo was boring as hell!
Exactly - Dial-a-Flap anyone?
It can have takeoff performance benefits though. Hoping to get in a performance course soon so I can found out more. Still don't have an FCOM update with the -9 performance in it.

I'm not positive of that, either. The E-Jet autothrottles can still get you into trouble, and if you disconnect them, then you (obviously) get zero protections. Is it hard to stall an E-Jet? Yup. Is it impossible to get yourself into trouble? Not in the least.
It was neat seeing an airliner do that, same with the 789- the 789 def had the more edgy demo this year.
No airline business people go "oh, well I was thinking about buying McBussyAir, but wow that B-6969 did about 5 more degrees of bank angle in that turn- I'm buying that no matter the cost!"
The demos are for the crowd. The airlines buy the planes via strict cost management.
I do think we should probably have a couple more notches on the bus....
What you say is absolutely true, but I think Embraer took that into account with their training modules and manuals. I merely pointed out that they took the best philosophies from the big boys and integrated them.I'm not positive of that, either. Really? What we've done is hold off on the clean up and autopilot until we're sure we can clear the 5nm restriction, then we start the climb sequence and we really don't activate the autopilot until the climb out above 5,000. Your approach to this is interesting though.Climb-out also. The ORD departure where you level off at 5-6000, in FLCH it will overspeed 250 in a heart beat. Best way to protect yourself is to switch to V/S about 1000 below ALT. It will capture the climb rate in FLCH and match the V/S.
She will overspeed you in a hurry if you aren't paying attention.
You're right about that!
