Caravan skydiving questions

Still here.
I got a little help at dropzone.com, but I wanted to see if JC can help me.

Story: I'm back in aviation (desk jockey) after a 2 year hiatus, but now I want to get back into flying with a part-time skydiving job. I have 1,050 hours and significant skydive experience (207/182). Dropzones nearby operate a 182, Caravan, Twin Otter and (supposedly on the way) King Air 90. I've met some people at both operations near me, and I think I could help with the Caravan. 1,000 hours seems like the bare minimum for that plane, but with skydive experience, could I make a convincing argument for myself? What resources should I use to prepare to fly my first turboprop?
 
This is a situation that I like to call promotion out of necessity. If the drop zone isn't looking for another pilot, then you're out of the picture. However, if they are in need of a guy and the requirements are 1,200 hours but they really need someone and you're the only possibility they have - you stand a good chance of being promoted out of necessity.

That's pretty much how I got the first skydive job. :)

I'm not in a hurry, so I'm just letting them know I'm around.
 
www.diverdriver.com has general operating info on various makes and models of skydiving aircraft, also there is a facebook group for jump pilots. All my time is in the U206/P206/T206 and 182. Some right seat time in various other things.
 
When you start the Caravan, wait for the little needle to move past 12% introduce fuel and voila.... Skip the mag check and take off.... Have fun, it can be a fun airplane to fly.

Or stop listening to a random stranger on the internet get a proper checkout from the drop zone.
 
You'll quickly learn that if you don't have the fuel selector in a certain position it will make loud noises at you when you go to start up :)

It's an easy plane - spool up the engine, introduce the fuel, have a nice day kind of plane.

There is a certain irony to that statement "proper checkout from the drop zone."

Caravan would make a good primary flight training aircraft if it wasn't so expensive to operate. Its about as hard to fly as a 152, and that isn't an exageration.
