United reaching out to ALPA FFD Carriers

Not sure what you mean. That would be a pretty straight forward disciplinary hearing, actually.

We had a female pilot who called in sick to attend the Super Bowl. As luck would have it, TV did a close up of her section of seats that provided irrefutable proof of her attending the game. Needless to say, she was in deep kimchee and got lots of unpaid time at home to "reflect".

Does your airline have sick days? Most just have PTO. No reason needs to be given in order to use PTO.

Haha... we're talking about regionals here. They're not even really sick days. They're more like you better be in a coma in the hospital days and we're still not gonna pay you for the trips you missed.

Mostly :sarcasm:

I've not once been asked for a sick note at my current (non-union) employer.

The one and only time I called in sick at my former (ALPA) employer, it was expedient for me to substantiate my sick (ear block, no go) call. That was a phone call to the Doc who told me not to fly like that. As it turns out, I wasn't required to have a note, but sick-on-probation it did make things easier for you down the road if you did.

Your mileage will certainly vary.

lol, it's pto, you don't need anyone's permission.

We have been down this road before with PTO. I am totally in agreement that PTO should be able to be taken at any time, however: what happens when the entire seniority list PTOs Christmas?

It's almost as if they need to embargo certain days under PTO as "sick only with Doctor's note".
