We had a female pilot who called in sick to attend the Super Bowl. As luck would have it, TV did a close up of her section of seats that provided irrefutable proof of her attending the game. Needless to say, she was in deep kimchee and got lots of unpaid time at home to "reflect".
Does your airline have sick days? Most just have PTO. No reason needs to be given in order to use PTO.
