Two Planes Collide Midair Near Idaho Airstrip

It seems like this is a weekly occurrence now that the summer is here. I am posting this because we we're going in to Boise and heared the initial radio call. Rest in peace.

CASCADE, Idaho – U.S. Forest Service officials say one person is dead after two small private planes collided in midair near a central Idaho airstrip.

David Olson with Boise National Forest said the person was killed Monday when one of the planes crashed. Further details on the death were not immediately available.

Yikes. I'm not sure if the media has just been reporting accidents more frequently the last few months or if there has actually been a big spike in them, but it feels like there have been fatal accidents left and right lately. RIP.

Aircraft accidents happe multiple times daily, not all fatal of course.

The pilot that lived is a professor at Central Washington University. I took a couple classes from her when they would do distance learning with our college.

I also heard this on Guard (SUN-DEN). Felt a sense of relief when someone reported that they were talking to the pilot on the ground. Didn't realize it was a midair and another aircraft was involved, however.
