If you were me (restarting career advice needed)

Flying for a living is nothing short of a moronic choice. Enjoy your money and buy or rent a little plane for fun.

You're NOT going to get into any job paying more than minimum wage for at least 5 years and you're NOT gonna fly corporate EVER unless you have rich friends who can give you the job.

Give up the idea of flying for a living. Period.

I instructed at Teterboro but that school has since moved to Caldwell. A former student of mine CFI'd, went to a commuter for a couple years then flew for Hertz then when they moved their flight department he now works for a high end department over in Morristown IIRC. He had multiple offers including another gig at TEB. There are lots of opportunities in that area but you need to get with the right crowd.

Corporate pays more (he has made $150k-$200k since leaving the commuters) but you need to be in the right corp department, there are a LOT of bad ones.

Westchester is a good place to instruct, lots of money and lots of flying, at least it was that way back when I was up there. If there is an ATP location there I would suggest going there, they get a ton of hours fast and it's almost all multi.

Just curious.........why all the extreme bitterness? I took the time to read over your posts since you recently joined and I've rarely seen such constant negatively, rancor or hostility from anyone. I mean, it's relentless. I have to wonder what you believe this is accomplishing? There is a middle ground between 'it's all sunshine and roses- blowing smoke up someone's behind' and the constant negative view that you present on here. What happened in your own career that makes you have this outlook? I am genuinely interested. You have railed against certain jobs because of the pay, but refused to answer when asked by another member here, exactly what you did to build hours starting out and to gain experience.

It seems you are rather dissatisfied and frustrated with your own progression and the general state of the industry and you may have reasons to be so, but you never explain that or share your own experiences or issues or even ask for advice. Instead, you seem to be constantly taking that personal negative mindset out on others here for some reason.

Painting an unrealistic picture isn't really necessary, but just constantly dumping on what others are looking into to or experiencing, isn't helping them either. If your career hasn't progressed as you may have wanted, that's one issue, but it's your issue. That doesn't mean it applies to everyone. Do you ever have anything to offer which is positive or is it always going to be that flying for a living (all the dozens and dozens of types of flying available) is all just a crap idea and everyone should just chuck it in? Because that is all you have brought o the table on this forum thus far. Is there a point to such an attitude on a site such as this? I am not really understanding that.

Perhaps you have missed the posts that happen here on almost a daily basis of someone getting a new and better job in aviation, or how much they are enjoying their current job, liked their past jobs or about the upgrade they are going to get. Your attitude is frankly, awful. I can't imagine you'll be likely to have the opportunity that many here have used to make contacts, get support, build positive relationships with fellow airmen, have some fun, find some comradery, learn anything, mentor anyone and network, if you keep this up. Just something for you to think about. Somehow though, I don't really think you give a rat's about any of that, in truth. That's not why you are here apparently. So I have to ask, why are you here? Are you even working in aviation currently or just spending your time typing very negative responses in every single thread you have participated in on here?

Yet you continue to hang around an aviation career forum.

To the OP, get busy working towards your goals, or give up and be angry like FedUp. That's really about all it boils down to.

Seriously, look at the attitude, work ethic, determination, grattitude and what iffyaviator has accomplished in such a short amount of time and then at fedup. (who if he really is that fedup, maybe he needs to move on already and let it all go- rather than spreading his special brand of joy amongst the troops) Personally, I'd much rather hear about how @iffyaviator is doing. lol

I think that's pretty good advice for anyone, really.

Darlene: I don't want to be expressive! I couldn't care less about poetry! I just want to graduate high school so I can get on with my life, so I can get a job and get out of this hellhole town!

Roseanne: But if you could be expressive, what would you say?
