United reaching out to ALPA FFD Carriers

Just got an email saying this was a miscommunication. Tried logging on the site and now it says to check back on July 7th. I wish I had the luck of the rest of you guys.

Thank you for your interest in the Fee for Departure (FFD) Open House sponsored by the UAL MEC. Due to the high demand for these events we have reached capacity and the registration has now closed. It is our hope that ALPA FFD Open Houses prove to be successful and are the model for assisting ALPA FFD pilots to United's flightdeck.

We will be offering a limited standby list for openings that may occur closer to the planned open houses. If you would like to be considered for this list please email the following information to UALMECFEEFORDEPARTURE@ALPA.ORG

In the title/subject: Standby FFD ALPA

In the body of the email:
1. Name
2. Airline FFD ALPA only (EG: Air Wisconsin, XJT, TSA)
3. Date you wish to attend
4. Contact information (email, phone)

Thank you again for your interest in the ALPA FFD Pilot Open House. If proven successful UAL ALPA hopes to announce future dates with United in the latter part of 2014 or early 2015. We wish you the best of success as you attain your future goals!

Fraternally,

UAL National Affairs Steering Committee

Looks like it is over. Hopefully they will do more in the future.

Feverishly attempting to load the page from the time the window opened until now to no avail....for now, the hungry stay hungry.

The fact that I can buy a ticket to a job fair the week of, but when a free open house is offered the internet explodes once again proves: Pilots are cheap.

I HIGHLY encourage everyone who didn't get the email confirmation to follow the instructions for the stand by list.

Yeah I can't buy a ticket for these job fairs it seems. They sell out well before any of the major players even say they will show up. It is not a good financial decision to buy something with no guarantee. Especially when on first year pay. Also job fairs cost a ton overall when you consider hotel and likely transportation since non-reving wont be easy.

We will see. I received my email at 12:05. I would imagine I have a good chance. The hard part is making sure I have the day off. We haven't even started the bid process for next month yet.

Hopefully more than just a few JCers got in.
