MT Propellers

Anybody else flown them? I flew our 207 with one today and it is amazing. Actually got a little better climb performance. They just feel cheap compared to the metal ones, but so far no dings from gravel.

Interesting. I noticed that the white is starting to come off. Thats ok, less mosquito streaks on the prop. I thought one of the advantages of the prop was that it was a long time between overhauls.

I have flown behind the MTV-9 on both the Pitts and Extra 300 and I think it is a great propeller. Definitely adds awesome vertical performance to the Pitts compared to the metal prop.

Only 1 MT related nick so far, someone got a huge nick in the prop in King Cove last year - but other than that, no problems
Good to know. Hopefully we have good luck in that department. It is funny seeing all the bug splatters on it.

Had them on the Diamond Twinstars. Hated them. Seems like they delaminate a lot. Also takes forever to get them back from overhaul.
Yeah, I had a blade practically destroyed from FOD (cracked all the way through from front to back), they sent it to the shop and put it in the jig and glued it back together!

Thats crazy. What kind of FOD was it?

Louder, and its very unforgiving if your power setting is lower than it should be when you're coming into the flare. Also it almost feels like there's more left turning tendency coming off the runway with it.
Interesting. I find in the 207 it to be a lot smoother, and a little bit quieter. I also think it looks really good on the 207. :)

Myself and every pilot I've talked to in our company can't stand the 5-bladed prop. luckily only one of our aircraft actually has it.

I actually love the 5-bladed prop over the 4 bladed. It feels under-powered with the 4-bladed. The airplane climbs so much better with the 5-bladed prop, and I don't have to worry about sucking gravel.

It is a might louder during the takeoff roll, but I don't notice it after takeoff. There is more left turning tendency - but I have yet to notice any problems in the flare and we take ours into some pretty short and messed up places.
