After almost two years of getting the funding and setting up operations, the airline is just a month away from the first flight! The airline posted some sneek peek pictures at the aircraft getting painted on their Facebook page. The routes and business model were posted in a press release today on their website. Can't wait to see the airplane when it is all done!

This whole thing has disaster written all over it. That being said, I wish their pilots and other employees the best of luck and hope this isn't just somebody's pet project that they are going to abandon.

People said the same thing about jetBlue and Virgin America when they started...

Interesting. I understand Vision pilots will do the initial flying. So, what became of the people hired in response to this ad ?:

http://www.aviationjobs.me/2014/03/b737-rated-and-non-type-rated-captains-peoplexpress-us.html

Or were any pilots hired from this ad ? The ad doesn't appear to mention Vision or indicate the hiring in this ad was for someone other than PEOPLExpress.

Or maybe I missed something ?
Vision is doing the flying until PEX gets their Air Carrier Certificate (and at least one airplane). Considering they withdrew their application last week, it seems like Vision may be handling the flying for quite some time. Not sure what to make of the job ad but it wouldn't make sense to hire pilots that won't be flying for the next couple years.

JetBlue and VA were extremely well financed and marketed. This is using a famous name to run a shoestring 121 operation that is one bad quarter away from folding. They don't even have their own certificate yet. Give me a break. You are talking about apples and oranges.
Like I said, I am happy to see hiring on big airplanes. I think it is great that pilots may use this as a stepping stone for bigger and better things. I just hope it is around long enough for the employees to get something out of it besides broken promises. I am not hating on the people who want to work here. More power to them, and I sincerely hope that I am wrong about PE and that this is the next success story, I just don't see it happening.

Vision is responding to PE needing pilots. I have no doubt that if PE folded next week or in 6 months that those pilots would find themselves on the street just like every airline pilot before them.
Vision sounds like a decent company and I am sure they have the best of intentions, but this industry is littered with the broken dreams of pilots that were hired with good intentions.

Guys...(cmhumphr, guywhoflies) its best not to listen to the negative comments on here. Especially from those who aren't on the front lines trying to make this work and have nothing to do with this other than their own opinion. True indeed, nothing is guaranteed in this business and the initial operation is a risk even though PE is very optimistic about the operation's success. There will always be opposition and those that don't want you to succeed. ....ignore that BS and concentrate on whats in front of you.

Well I didn't make this thread to talk about the downfalls and whatnot. I was just simply updating the aviation community that this operation is actually running and is still a process in the works. The whole purpose and mission of this airline is to not promote a shoestring operation, but to fill a void that was created when airTran pulled out of the PHF market. This airline brings a lot of business back to the city and also creates new jobs for everybody in the industry.

I know a guy who knows the guys putting this together. ( :-) )
it sounds like it could be good, I think its a bunch pilots starting an airline.
if they can make money with a model that gives us a great place to go to work, then i think it should be something everybody in our community speaks possitively about until given a reason not to!

Actually, Vision is responding to PEX needing airplanes and pilots. Vision just happens to be a company that can fulfill that need. As long as the checks clear from PEX then I am sure that Vision has no problem with the agreement. As far as broken dreams, all of the pilots are fully aware of what they are committing to and the goals of the company. On the other hand, many companies have broken the dreams of their employees through concessions (pay and scope).

That's going to be awesome with a widget on it? :)

Pretty sure I remember reading In the local papers when this whole scheme was concocted that pex originally wanted to fly out of ORF. When they could not secure favorable terms with the norfolk airport authority they settled on PHF. I don't buy the whole they were created to fill the airTran void in Newport news.

Hope it works out for you guys but this operation says skybus way more than jetblue.

Ok. Got it. Maybe you don't understand the gist of my post. I hope this works out for everyone involved. Based on previous performance of startup airlines in this environment, I am not holding my breath. You and others are getting way bent out of shape over it for no reason. People speak poorly about my current employer and the employer that I just got hired with all the time but I take it with a grain of salt and let it roll off my back. This is an extremely difficult and competitive environment for a startup to gain traction in, especially with no airplanes of their own, no certificate, and someone that took two years to raise the capital to get where they can start revenue flights.
I will say it a fourth time. Hope this works out great and you are all the next Spirit. You can come back here and tell me how full of crap I am. I will toast you all to your success. There are a lot of miles between here and there though.
For you guys that escaped your crappy regional jobs to get hired by Vision, congratulations. Enjoy getting experience in the classic and if you don't already have your 737 type then even better. I will just say that if I were you I would keep my options open and keep updating those apps to the majors.
