I went to tell my phone to navigate to my dad's house and it instead google searched his/our name (same name). I saw that the first hit google got was the link I provided. It has all of our FTN #'s, addresses, medical classes and dates, and IMO information that just shouldn't be online.

Then there was also this site that popped up

it doesn't have as much info...but what happened with all of our info ending up online as public information?

This data has been public since I started flying 15 years ago.
 
First link is outdated info by nearly 2 years. 2nd link is about 6 months behind.

It's public record...
 
You can opt out of having your address made public.

My name doesn't appear in either of the two links you posted, even though I've had a pilot and medical certificate for over 20 years (and they're still current as far as I know.) I do see a pilot with the same name as mine, but we both show up in the FAA's database on the FAA website, but my address had not been released, his is and he shows up in both links.
 
OK I found a site that searches by zip code. Incredible.

Edit: Guy down the street is an A&P, I always wondered what he did. I thought he was a firefighter for some odd reason.
 
Having your information removed takes one email to the FAA. Takes 5 minutes. While my name and certificates are available on the FAA site, my address is not.

Yea, mine was supposed to already have been opted out...which is why I wanted to let everybody know. I don't know if there were recent changes that changed the opt out policy, or if you need to re-opt out when you get new ratings. I got my ATP back in January. Personally I don't want somebody to be able to google my name and know where I live...too many crazy people out there.

The other reason I brought this up is anybody who didn't know they could opt out certain can now, however these sites are not FAA sites so how would you get them to remove their information? Sure you can stop the FAA from releasing it, but its already on non-FAA sites. Luckily I actually am moving soon which I really the only sure way to make sure that information doesn't match.
 
On a side note why is this stuff public record? It's not like a drivers license is public record and searchable.

Landings dot com has a database searchable by zip.

Put me in the "I don't show up in either link" group. My address is blocked in the FAA registry, that might be why.

Check your local property appraiser's website. With your name and what county you reside in, anyone can find it.
