If you love the 757

Then you must get to the Delta Heritage Museum and see one of the best looking 757's to ever grace the skies...growing up, I couldn't wait for Delta to introduce a new paint job. United, Continental an USAirways all had "cool new looks" back in the 90's. Oh to be young, dumb an stupid...I'd honestly give anything to work for Delta and have this be the paint job on the plane I retired on.

Aircraft 608 makes a brilliant "Gate Guard" for the revamped museum. Great job Delta!

While I don't consider myself an "airplane nerd," there are two airplanes I'd give a certain left part of my anatomy to fly. A 757 and an A26.

The museum store is located inside the forward section of an L1011 that still has the cockpit attached. I think you can even go sit in the seats.
My first L1011 ride was on Delta back in 1999. I have to give Delta alot of credit on the museum. My new gig is going to be doing contract maintenance for Delta here in FAI and hopefully I will get the chance to go to the museum if I do the gen/fam course for the 757.

Given the current location I give it 2 weeks before it's stolen.

The store will no longer be in the L1011. It will have it's own dedicated space in the museum. They supposedly have reconstructed the L1011 on a mezzanine and added seats to show what the interior looked like.

Now I feel like those old Vietnam vets that I would fly with that I would tease.

"Yeah that plane was the new hotness back in the 60's, but how does it feel to see it 'onna stick' in front of the guard shack?"

All in fun and in jest, of course.

One of our DC9-50's was donated to the NC Aviation Museum in Charlotte. I thought wait I'm way too young to have a plane that I've flown, like the actual one that still has my stench on the right seat, parked in a museum.

It's an original Piedmont plane. There are plans to paint it if funds can be secured.

L-1011 restoration coming along nicely…

I don't believe that is correct. The aircraft in Charlotte was an original North Central aircraft that ended up at Delta via NWA. Piedmont never flew the DC9-50. Allegheny however did. Something tells me Delta would not donate an aircraft only to let it be repainted to celebrate the heritage of a competitor. Just a hunch.

You're right. Plans for Republic paint not Piedmont.
