Things at the airport that make you go hmmmm....

I was at Winchester Regional in Virginia, KOKV, (nice airport). There was a C182 taxiing out, he had no idea that his cargo door was wide open. I had to run out to him and point to the door.

So much for the preflight.

What about the pilot in the Cessna that departs with the tow bar still attached???
That's nothing. Saw some guys doing a compass swing on a Cherokee. They were using the tow bar to maneuver it around. Saw them hop in the plane and attempt to start the engine. Of course the prop gave the tow bar a good whack. They got out, put the tow bar away, started the engine, and took off.

Yup. Geniuses right there.

Once had a cirrus SR22 pilot take off on a taxi-way...right above me. I was heated to say the least.

Cirrus Pilots...This was in the traffic pattern. Practicing power off 180s, I think 2 others in the pattern. Runways were 33-15. Everyone was landing 15. A old, grumpy sounding cirrus pilot decides to call in on frequency "XXX traffic, Cirrus XXX, is 10 miles south on the practice ILS 33 full stop." Few seconds later, announces 2 mile final 33, full stop. We decided to break off on final and get out of there...

While waiting to depart at DFW in line behind a Beech 99 from a certain large freight feeder.

Tower asks if she's ready. She says no, she needs to "check something".

Left engine shuts down. Pilot window/door opens, out she climbs, runs back to the cargo door, opens it, closes it, waves at me behind her, runs back to the front, climbs up, closes up, and starts up.

I'm thinking "okay...not exactly brilliant but there's the foreign time builder to hold the brakes."

She turns onto the runway - only one in the cockpit. o_O

I bet it's that same captain only later in a metro who realizes the plane is so far aft CG for landing. Sets AP goes to back and chucks few hundred pounds of cargo forward.
While cruising at 16,000.

Yeah shes gone flying the big airbus 320 now.

A couple weeks ago at the hold short line of a very busy towered airport I saw a G5 open up the door. Then the FO comes down the stairs and run to each MLG and grab the gear pins and then go back into the airplane.
