The Job Search

I would also like to add, always act professional because you never know who you will run into or who will be observing your behavior at work and even jump seating or nonreving. I recently met two more possible internal recommendations for my dream job, all because of the way I asked for a lift when jump seating home.

Absolutely true. I tell my students, and friends (flying or not) "always act professional because you never know on which day your career may be judged"

Totally unrelated to this post, but when a member changes their name, can we change the member type (well known member or whatever) to their former user name for a few months? I have no idea who this is now and I'm assuming with their 10K in posts, I should.

Might require some custom coding.

Custom Title field.

You already have the ability to do a custom title. The few people that I actually grant name changes to have the ability to call themselves "aka ZOMG My company was on my ass"

This is awesome. Thanks for all of the hints. Q: I'm struggling with having an ATP ASEL, Multi-Comm and wondering if I'm not being considered if the req only states ATP and not ATP AMEL?

Sorry if this is not the correct location for this.

I know. I was saying that it would be cool that when you grant somebody a name change you tell them to change their custom title to "formerly: xxx" for a month or so.

Unless you delete their old posts, the company will still be on their ass so I don't see how it matters.

And your jumpseater may be observing you.

I was jumpseating to work and I introduced myself to the captain and FO and asked both of them if I could ride with them up front as the plane was full.

The FO immediately blurts out when is your company going to call me? I've been to several of your job fairs and I just want to get the airbus type rating and move on to emirates or ethiad or someplace overseas. I'm going to your next job fair next week and that he had several buddies working at my company trying to get him an interview.

I really couldn't believe someone could behave like that.

Throughout the whole flight the FO complained about getting shorted in pay, he complained about crew scheduling and just trashed his company - the whole what my interview prep counselor called "the bitter regional pilot syndrome."

At first I thought about providing his name as a person not to call to HR but I decided not to because his personality and attitude would speak for himself when he meets with the recruiters.

I doubt anyone on here would act like this.

Report him! Let somebody that actually deserves a shot at your airline get that far.

Along the lines of jumpseating, if you have never ridden on the airline you are applying/interviewing at it's a good idea. When I got hired at one of my past airlines I had never jumpseated or ridden on them so the day before the interview I rode on them for an out an back. Both guys in front were very nice so imagine my surprise when I walked into the interview the next day and the CA I had met the day before was running the sim for my interview.

On the flip side I had a guy in the jumpseat a month or so ago that was going to an interview at my current company. Even though he was positive spaced in the back he asked if he could sit up front to get a better feel for the company, he was a great guy and I thought it was great he went the extra mile to come sit up front. I ended up sending hr a quick email that basically said "nice guy, took the initiative to come sit up front."

Moral of the story be nice to everyone because you don't know who they are.
