Just rolled out of the Boeing Paint hangar up at PAE.
Yes this livery makes my man parts move. Can't wait to get a photo of it.

Better. Unprotected sex.

Been wanting to hit the Boeing airports forever...might actually finally do it when she's ready to fly.
I'll give you a heads up. The 787 program is very well documented up here so it's pretty easy to know when stuff is going to fly. Getting good light is the only hard part.

This article mentions how the black paint doesn't have any performance impact. It sure had been a long time coming!

When USAirways changed from dark blue to white paint on their fleet they did a study and it showed the average cabin temperature was 4 degrees cooler with the white topped airplanes.

It makes a huge difference.

And Hawaii isn't exactly "hot". Parts of Australia are hot but I doubt they are going their in their 777.

That's very interesting what US Airways found, maybe Boeings paint operations manager was misquoted in the article when he said suggestions black paint could affect an aircraft's performance were unfounded.

FYI the 777 flies the Auckland - Brisbane route during peak periods, and regularly does other trans-tasman flights to Australia. It also flies to Rarotonga, and sometimes Fiji. The 787 will be flying to Perth.

Most other fleets have at least one aircraft in the black livery, excluding the Q300, 737, and 767. I'm sure they have done the numbers and determined it doesn't make too much difference. New Zealand isn't exactly "cold".

I would think that it makes some difference or they would paint their whole fleet that way. FYI this will be their new livery fleet wide supposedly.
