Great Lakes is hiring street captains

Well to be fair I wouldn't care if the FO wasn't even breathing in a 1900.

I'd rather have that scenario than a 300/hr well intentioned guy. We get guys with 1000+ hrs as SICs and they spend their first two months inadvertently trying to kill us every leg.

Wow, you guys must be hiring some pretty sharp guys! 1,000 + hours should be PLENTY of time for a decent commercial pilot to act as SIC in a simple turboprop.

This comes directly from the company website mentioning the benefits for working with Great Lakes.
Finally, what makes Great Lakes Airlines such a great place to work? It can be defined in one word: community. While we continue to grow, and have the distinction of being recognized as a well-respected corporation, we try not to lose sight of the fact that it is our employees that are responsible for the Company’s success. Great Lakes Airlines offers a community environment where everyone’s job is important and respected—and each individual matters.:bounce::aghast::ooh::(

Oh and don't forget to purchase your Great Lakes Calendar for $10 available on the website homepage :D

Cape Air is paying PICs better than that, and Captains much better. They have FOs making more than that.

And I was making almost double what GL is offering a captain when I was at Flight Express. And I got crap for taking a low paying job to go there.

They could operate their 1900s part 135 without a SIC if they had a 3 axis autopilot and got the waiver for autopilot in lieu of a SIC but the fact is that co-pilots are cheaper than autopilots.

Not that I'm interested in SWA, but this ATP-A320 typed pilot with 6000 hrs is not qualified for Southwest. That Great Lakes direct entry Captain making $27.84/hr is qualified after 1,000 hrs in that position. Say what you want folks, bottom line is, if TPIC isn't on your resume, quality airline doesn't mean squat to places like SWA or FDX. If I was still stuck as a 8-th year RJ FO at a certain company, I would definitely apply to the DEC position at Lakes. As for their pay, as has been said many times, consider it "paying your dues." At least you'd be marketable to more legacy airlines.
