Telex "Regional Jet Package" Headset?

I use the Halo, made by Quiet Technologies.

Simple design, way cheaper than the Clarity Aloft. No Battery, uses basic earplugs that are replaceable. No custom ear mold bs.

I have had many different headsets, and I'll stick with this one from here on out.

Disclaimer: I fly a crj200. I don't know how loud a erj is, I've heard louder than a crj.

How's that TSO certification working out for you?

?... I've heard the Telex 850's aren't even enough for the ERJ...

True. If you're going telex, go with the 5x5. The 850 is worthless in the embraer, and will probably do more harm than good...even with the mic adjustment, it sucks. I went back to my Zulus, over the ear, ANR, bulky, but protects the hearing.

Not sure what the actual question is... ? The tele. 850's work great in the CRJ -200/900. After 7.5 years, only spent maybe $20? New ear covers and mic cover at 5 years-ish. Can't comment on other A/C. I tend to go "topless" when over 2 hours enroute for comfort without issue. CRJ's aren't bad in the noise dept but noise canceling is nice.

The question is how well the telex 5x5 works with the regional jet package... (So I can have sound in both ears)

I went to the website and don't see it. Am I just missing something? The E175 folks I know either use 850's or Bose. Why that cockpit isnt designed quieter is beyond me.

Yes I know, thread drift and pointless.

I bought some Plantronics a couple of years ago, and then tried the Westone molds. They were terrible, couldn't get the fit right. Went back to my Zulus.

I'm thinking about trying again using some comply tips with the plantronics.

All depends on the molds made by the audiologist. Something to keep in mind...quality requires quality.

I do not recommend only a single ear mold in the RJ. Perhaps in a legit transport category aircraft you can roll with a single side headset, but not in the RJ.

Used these what?

I highly recommend the Plantronics MS50/T30 with dual custom ear mold set up.

Do you use this in the CRJ or ERJ? I'm looking into this set up and would prefer the plantronics mic (I'll be honest, it's cheaper) and the guy running that place said do not get it, use the 5x5. He said everyone has had complaints with the MS50/T30...

From our perspective the Plantronics MS50 and the Telex 5x5 are basically the same thing, but with one MAJOR difference. The Telex 5x5 has a gain control for the microphone and the Plantronics does not. This means that on the Telex you can tweak the microphone to avoid picking up most of the ambient noise in the cockpit, and let's face it, in ANY RJ there is plenty of ambient noise (mostly wind). The Plantronics headset may be just fine if you are a telemarketer or a secretary in a quite office space, but it's not good for flying in the RJ. Spend the extra few dollars and get the Telex.

(Yes, I'm speaking from experience. I tried both and had to return the Plantronics.)

Not once has anyone complained, so...also speaking from experience.

And to the one who asked what I'm using it in, yes it's a CRJ.

A lot has to do with proper microphone placement as well, but I can't hold everyone's hand through this awesome journey.

That shop still require TSO'd headsets?
