Delta Hiring Update

I hear it's "Coverage Carnage" on the domestic side.

Make it rain, brother. Make it rain.

I liked my edited version of my post far better... but yes... brother it is raining over here.... and is also why I moved back 2 numbers on the last bid while flying 4 legs today and enjoying 13 hours in TRI and another handful of legs tomorrow.

That was in your new hire package, wasn't it?

You know the post-happy hour post-dinner "You know skipper, we should drop by the Sultans of Kebab and pick up some breakfast for tomorrow" and then watching him eat it right then and right there was worth a few numbers.

That and, "I hear the buffalo wings here are great! I just had some last night so I'm going to get a salad" works too.

I swear guys I fly with are trying to eat healthier. I got a slice of pizza tonight and heard a couple thousand cheering in my head, haha. Then I asked my very overweight captain if he was going to work out in the morning and got a no, so I was ok with that, haha.

I'm about 2000 away from any A and similar to the 330B. 10,200 seniority. No raining, I'm planning on being here another couple years until the deliveries and attrition takes hold. I'm hoping "coverage carnage" holds up until then.
Hmm, I'm 9600 and moving backwards in NYC 7ER. Maybe the 320 is where I need to bid. Heard ATL is the place to be.

I'm new to this backfilling concept. I'm actually new to system bid software that makes sense (FLICA). Can somebody explain what backfilling means?

When they don't replace the senior guys bidding out with junior guys bidding into a category.

Backfilling means they replace guys who leave. No backfilling means they let the category shrink.

It has other meanings in midtown Atlanta and San Francisco.

I loved flying the 320, but being the plug on any equipment blows. I bid down to the 717, got my seniority back, then got hired into the training dept. I will definitely bid back to the bus at some point.

M

must be speaking deltanese

I'm guessing he's talking green slipping trips. I got a good education on my last jumpseat ride about that. Some guys really can work the system. Best one I heard was about 200 hours credit for an 80 hour line.

The preferred nomenclature is "Deltaesque"

Good day sir... GOOD DAY SIR!

In order to work the system you pretty much have to be flexible to take short notice flying. Obviously living in base helps. I'm just not really wired that way and reserve guarantee and known time off satisfies me more than 200 hour months. That's the good part of the system...options for pilots...and why I was so against the last contract and forcing reserves to potentially fly ALV+15 against their will.

And Green Slips mean nothing to me...What are you speaking? A different dialect of Deltanese?
