Delta Hiring Update

I have yet to have a weight restricted or fuel stop -900 flight.......

Ok.

I have no idea what to do with that as we work for two completely different airline that probably use the airplane much differently! :)

I know :).

We do use them A LOT though on transcons.

Probably my only question would be if those routes were developed as 737-900 routes with the limitations of the aircraft baked right into the operation.

On Virginia Avenue, it's really more like we have an enormous fleet of 757's which were thought could be replaced by 737-900's even-stevens and it's not turning out to be the case. Remember, this is a new airframe for the airline and I think the epiphany that it simply isn't a 757 is coming to bear.

Cargo pays more than value travelers so they tend to "load optimize" and take cargo over the Priceliners.

Me too!

But you know, for airline pilots, we're always "17 year old girls the night before the prom"

I love having the -800s and -900s on the ANC-SEA route. Take a full load, and two jumpseaters. The -400s are iffy. I barely made it on last time.

As long as you've got a long enough runway...as in at least 10,000 feet, the 900 can typically do something like that. Take a 9000 foot runway with terrain issues like SAN, and you're leaving people behind and piling them on the 757 (or A320 :D ) next door.

I'm starting to realize that the only thing that can truly replace a 757 is…. another 757.

That's why Anderson said what he said in his latest release. Basically, we're done with the 737... quit trying to stretch it, we want something that can perform like the 757.

Love it!

And probably that same damned overhead in order to please Southwest.

cuh KLUNK cuh KLUNK ROOooOOOOOoOoooOOoOooooOH!

I love the Boeing jets but man, the 737 is like a factory-fresh 335i with roll 'em up windows, a 8 track tape deck and a server rack behind the front seats.

No kidding. Going from the 75/76 to that thing is almost depression inducing. I remember the first time they closed the circuit breaker panel in the sim to the sound of it crushing my bag. "OH man... this is one small cockpit." Then he turned the cockpit volume up to a more "realistic" level. I started really questioning turning down reinstatement to the 767 then. But hey, lineholder!

A year later and getting unstacked into working weekends on rsv (bad schedule and airplane I didn't like), I went sprinting to the 320 category when it opened, haha. I may have sat junior on the 320 for a while, but it sure was nice knowing I was coming into work on a plane I actually enjoyed flying.
