Malaysia Airlines 777 missing

Maybe? That would take a long time though. Now they could have been carrying little to no cargo and just had warm bodies on board and maybe they shot right up to the mid 40's. The wings would start to have a hard time supporting that weight that high since the engines are not producing enough thrust. Once again I haven't flown one but I'm pretty sure it was manipulated by someone who was watching the parameters closely in order not to stall the wing.

The pusher could have something to do with it. And not knowing what the power was set at, and the trim it might take a lot of altitude to recover without anyone operating the controls.

Thrust doesn't.... never mind...

???????

Ok help me understand then. Thrust doesn't what at FL4?? How does the wing sustain lift at that altitude and weight? I'm not trying to be a dick but I haven't had the pleasure of operating outside the limits of the airplanes I've flown. Basic aerodynamics says that if you don't have the forces of flight working together then something isn't going to work out for you.

Pusher in a climb into the 40's? Maybe I'm missing what you are getting at.

I received a decent lesson today flying survey over Kansas City. When flying against the sun I could look down and see a HUGE flock of birds on the lake below me, clear as day. When coming the other way, with the sun on my back, it only looked like there were some small waves on the same lake with trace of the flock of birds. That was just on a small lake in Kansas... I couldn't possibly imagine trying to find an airliner in the middle of an ocean with as little information as the SAR teams have right now. It really opened my eyes to how hard that is going to be.

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding you wording and not your comprehension then. It sounds like you understand now(after rereading your post and reply) that lift supports the weight, and thrust is required to sustain the speed to make the lift?

I find that it is difficult to draw a conclusion with no reliable evidence.

But my money is on Emmanuel Lewis, 'cause he's the anti-Christ.

Why's the anti-Christ gotta be a brother, man? Why can't it be an awkward brown-haired woman from Greenland?

Don't worry about ol Emmanuel. He's come into my current flight school a few times, but we've never been able to give him a proper lesson. Too short to reach the controls...

I always envision the anti-Christ looking like Gary Busey on a bad hair day. The shirt just adds to the effect.
