It's not a better deal. That b scale had zero concessions for all pilots on property. I don't think we should have entertained it, and would have voted against it, but we are worse off for it.
First of all: all those expenses were legit minus the bar tab that wasn't ever paid.
Second, add all that up and multiply it by 10 and you're still not even close to what the current MEC has spent without proper funding.
By us, you certainly are referring to Kirby. The guy who actually pitched the idea.Entertained it? You guys dreamed it up. You proposed it.
Both jokes. That report was the tip of the iceberg. I know about plenty and I don't know it all. "The" bar tab?! Seriously? Just the fact that you and your crew think it's okay to routinely get liquored up on dues money speaks volumes to your credibility and character (read: total lack thereof).
You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about regarding MEC funding right now.
Grasping at straws in desperation. What is it with you guys? Is this some sort of job interview with Jerry Glass?
Entertained it? You guys dreamed it up. You proposed it.
That's a reach.
I'm all for passionate skepticism, but when it crosses the line between rational debate to "I saw a monkey fly", you lose your audience.
Back to your old ways. Anyone that doesn't agree with you must be a snacker. @ATN_Pilot is a mainline pilot that was already doing union work by the time your were sitting in new hire class.
Good for him. I really wish I could go down this path but now is not the time. Maybe a few months from now I will dig up this thread and we can revisit his vigorous defense.
If it was only the tip why haven't you gone digging? It doesn't matter either way because they were sanctioned and approved expenses. We held a family awareness event that included an open bar. Nobody complained then.
I'm not going to argue that trying to expense a bar tab is pretty pathetic, but it wasn't like that at all. We went to dinner with pilots and volunteers- people had some drinks. The group meal policy saved the MEC thousands of dollars all while buying a few pilots some beer. Whoop-dee-do.
I know you don't have a grant and I know the MEC is bleeding money faster than any bar tab.
Do you know how many people in your crew you just threw under the bus? Do you have a filter installed between your brain and your mouth? I can believe you guys thought a family awareness event with open bar a good idea, I can believe you guys planned it and I can even believe you did it. It's just hard to believe you would post that like it's okay to say.
The group meal policy saved money? Keep it coming Jared. Tony will be telling you to stop posting, again, any time now....
What's wrong with an open bar for pilots, their spouses, and their of-age kids who want to partake. Designated drivers are a personal responsibility not to be "forced" by a union holding a dry event.
edited to add:
If a pilot or his/her family cannot exercise personal responsibility at a family event with an adult beverage, they should consider HIMS.
You are not throwing your union under the bus by decrying the open bar, you are throwing your fellow line pilots under the bus and essentially stating that they can't drink responsibly.
