Spartan College + major airline =??

What could they possibly offer that will help alleviate the pilot shortage? I suspect it will be similar to American Eagle and the "pipeline" program with ATP Flight School and a few other schools.

"You train here, we will give you an instructor INTERNSHIP to build 1500 hours. Then a guaranteed interview with our....umm...major??"

Smoke and mirrors.

Wast there a big thing on 60 Minutes a few years back about Spartan and a few other similar schools being some sort of scam?

My brother went to Spartan and got his degree and A&P. He said it was cheaper than going to ERAU. He liked it.

I think that was schools like Everest College that are purely for profit enterprises. They were fudging their job placement claims and using predatory tactics to sign up the ignorant.

Yes, that was it. I think Spartan was among the others doing similar things. Those commercials were everywhere in 2009 ish when the job market was trash.

I graduated from Spartan a few years ago. A friend of mine is instructing there and I went back a few months ago for his wedding. I went in there on a Wednesday afternoon out of curiosity and found no one there. The chief was in the office, and there wasn't a single student or instructor to be seen. All the planes were sitting on the ramp, all of them. I don't know how Spartan still exists.

I did all of my training at Spartan and while the training I received was excellent, I would NEVER do it again. Price scamming was a huge ordeal and I could probably write a book on my experiences there. At one time, it got so bad there they were sued by multiple parties for various things and in a separate ordeal, they lost their foreign training contract. Any perspective Spartan students reading this, please educate yourselves before you make a decision whether or not to attend.

Here's the article with the video.

The article states there are only 50 students attending the pilot side. When I was there, there was closer to 400. The flight school has been "just holding on" for a long time now.
