YAY! Lets drag an old name threw the mud

Wegel's been touting this for almost 6 years now.

"This isn’t the first time investors have considered bringing Eastern back from the grave. Back in April 2008, the South Florida Business Journal wrote that the steward of Eastern Airlines’ assets and trademarks signed a deal with a group controlled by Wegel, who at that time, said he hoped to “restart Eastern Air Lines in Miami by summer 2009.”

Good, bad or indifferent....it'd be just great to see the colors at an airport near you. Call me nostalgic, but things were better in the past... ;-)

It's interesting and certainly nostalgic. If be more thrilled to hear they are continuing operations using Douglas airframes only ;)

Ugh, I really wish people would stop doing this sort of thing. Remember Pan-am....and the 6 feeble attempts at raising it from the ashes since 1991?

Almost seems like they're desecrating the dead. Just let them rest in peace and let us remember them as they were.

Is 'New' Frontier the only really successful Lazarus in airline history?

Pan Am certainly wasn't (even the TV show!), Braniff wasn't, pick your great-idea-that-wasn't.
