Reason #759 why not to work at a non-union airline.

Says an East pilot? Granted, the whole post-Nic award ALPA-kicked out was before your time, but I don't think any USAPA pilot can call out another airline for not having a union. Not sure how your boat floats, but in my case coming from a union regional airline didn't really do squat for me. Ironic that Skywest is the best paying and performing regional airline and they are non-union.

Anyway personally I think we will be seeing an ALPA vote on property pretty soon.

Relax brosef it's not personal. I just wouldn't work for your airline or any other non-union shop. The nic was before my time but I support those dudes 100% as a ton of them got f'ed.

And I hope yal get ALPA on property soon as it'd be good for the whole industry.

Also not true.

When was the last time Skywest did a CATIII ILS? How about hand flown? :D

Thanks for sharing the updated payscale! It's helpful!

It is too small. But I respect the comment about they need to make money first. Where I work 10 year F/O's make as much as their top Capts. That said, we still have 26 waiting for recall. Wonder if any VA Capts would trade numbers with a UPS furloughee?

26 out of how many? At some point doesn't it just make sense to recall the guys and trust to the size of the pilot group and the number of guys who want to fly as little as possible to absorb a relatively tiny number of extra pilots, in exchange for having them up and ready to go when they need them (eg, this most recent peak season)?

Yes. It totally makes sense. But the guys on furlough there are more of a political statement by the company than anything else.

UPS pay is good, but with all due respect I would say no. Commute to ANC for reserve from the eastern US coast with a young wife and baby at home is a no-go. How many aircraft are on order at UPS? 5? Any movement currently is predicated almost entirely on retirement numbers. Sure UPS pay is good but it will come at the expense of back-of-the-clock flying with no big movement in sight. I'd rather stick it out at VX and see how it goes. I get to do two day trips across the country in which I am home every calendar day. When you have a young family, this sort of time at home becomes priceless.
