Southwest lands at wrong airport?

LOL! Looks what's on her bookshelf to the left.

Reporter: So will the plane accelerate faster by holding the brakes and revving up the engines?
Expert: The plane won't accelerate any faster...the speeds called v1 and vR will still be the same for the plane to take off...it'll just GET to that speed faster than it would with a normal takeoff.

Where do they find these geniuses?

I wonder how he defines the term "acceleration". High school physics...c'mon, man.

Let me ask you this, if the airplane went off the runway and killed 18 people, should the crew be fired?

At the risk of seeming as if I'm dodging the question.....You're asking me to speculate on something that did not happen. And, even if it did happen (hypothetically), you would be asking me to pronounce an immediate judgement without knowing all the facts.

Is that vague enough?!?o_O

Missouri Senator Roy Blunt called on federal regulators to do a “thorough investigation.”

“I’ve landed at this airport and it’s tough to navigate in small planes — let alone in an aircraft this size,” Blunt said in a statement this morning. “People have every right to assume that they will arrive at their correct destination.”

That kind of political pressure is definitely not going to help the case for keeping their jobs. :(

“People have every right to assume that they will arrive at their correct destination.”

No they don't have that right, unless they paid the fee for that with their ticket purchase. Just like the carryon bag fee, the drink fee, the extra bags fee, the ramp fee, and the user fees. Don't pay it? Then don't have the right to it.

This whole thing was pretty much the US media in a nutshell.
Could be worse. Our local news broadcasts are a series of questions: "Was the governor assassinated today? We'll be right back after this commercial." Other questions: "Will there be tornadoes tomorrow?" "Will the Oklahoma City Thunder move back to Seattle?" "What did the bomb squad find hidden under the federal courthouse steps today?"

That sounds terrible Kansas city's local news is better but they always hype every winter storm for ratings. First it's like we're going to get 14 inches of snow then right before it snow they will say its only going to be 1-3 inches. It's not because the weather changed if you check a reliable source they will say 1-3 all along.

If you can't get a 737 stopped in 4,000 you should be fired.

My RJ commonly only requires 2,500. Not that we'd land on a 2,500 foot long runway, but if you NEED TO, it'll stop.

I lost a crapload of runway in AMS today when I floated because GSmini was pretty high and I didn't have the systems knowledge to go "selected speed".

Should I get the axe? :)

Below is the video from the TO out of a small airport for this 737.
