Air India goes off runway...after fuel emergency

Another pic, this one taken shortly after the accident.

And according to this link, the diversion and fuel emergency was due to the aircraft's intended destination fogging in, and the wing did strike the ground and not the cluster of trees off the side of the runway. Not sure what the alternate rules are in India, almost sounds like they were caught with their pants down when Delhi fogged in and didn't have any solid options.

On a side note, 173 people on an A320?
That'll buff out.

Not enough power :). But you can get them for around $2-3K (I think) here. I saw an older Indian guy riding one around over the summer.

Did you have the gear selector on the right on that 350? I know recently they started to switch it to the universal side. My dad had a 350 back in the day when he was in the IAF.

Yeah, mine was right-hand shift. It was a great little bike and simple enough that I could work on it.

So this is apparently the tree that AI890 hit… just kinda, y'know, hanging out beside the runway and all, doing tree things.

More precisely, 270 ft from the centerline, about halfway down the length. India is amazing.

The tree was there first, seniority rules.

Now the question...why was the A320 270 feet off center line...halfway down the runway...
