CHIEF PILOT NIKE FLIGHT OPERATIONS
Job Location:

The mission of the Nike Flight Operations department is to continually increase shareholder value by protecting the human potential, creativity, innovation and resources of NIKE Inc. We accomplish this with a relentless pursuit of excellence and dedication to the growth of the NIKE brand.

As our Chief Pilot, reporting to the Director of Nike Flight Operations, you'll help to drive the mission and vision of the department forward. Responsibilites will include the following:

Leadership
· Accountable for leading the Nike Flight pilot team inclusive of hiring, coaching and performance management
· Ensure that all flight operations processes and procedures include risk management
mitigation as specified in the safety risk management system
· Drive timely and accurate communications with the Director and other team members to maximize performance and minimize risk
· Accountable for onboarding and development of the pilot team

Manager Excellence (Lead, Coach, Drive and Inspire high-performing teams)
· Manages to Nike’s performance management lifecycle, inclusive of rigorous annual goal setting, directional mid-year reviews, and effective end of year employee reviews (CFE).
· Communicate business strategy, create a shared vision and a focused sense of urgency
· Encourage and support the growth and development of team members to realize their
potential
· Energize and engage the team towards the highest priorities and turn action into results
· Provide regular feedback, teaching and coaching
· Promote a creative and open environment that makes the team want to perform their best
· Link the contribution of the team to the company’s and departments mission

Problems

Functional
· Identify and deploy industry best practices across all aspects of flight operations
· Ensure the pilot team participates effectively in the safety risk management system
· Establish and maintain relationships with relevant company personnel
· Partner with the Director to develop standard operating procedures and aircraft checklists
· Conduct inflight and simulator evaluations for pilot standardization and proficiency
· Partner with the maintenance team to ensure aircraft airworthiness and readiness
· Remain informed of the latest developments within the business aviation community
· Assist with the preparation of operational budgets and financial forecasts
· Assist the Director with the management of flight related direct operating costs
· Manage programs for the pilots that include onboarding, leadership development, proficiency testing (as relevant) and recurrent and technical training
· Manage expense reporting for the pilot team
· Maintain training records for all department personnel
· Manage procurement of contract pilots
· Assume responsibilities as delegated by the Director of Aviation in his/her absence
· Participate in team activities and projects that support the growth and improvement of Nike Flight
· Achieve goals set by or for you and meet deadlines for completion of assigned work

Technical
· Fly approximately 75% of a standard NIKE Captain flight schedule
· Maintain aircraft proficiency
· Complete all required training satisfactorily and on time, including assigned eLearning courses and other training required by Nike or Nike Flight



Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
· 5 years as a member of a corporate flight department or comparable department preferred
· Extensive knowledge of IS-BAO preferred
Flight qualifications:
· Valid Airline Transport License with multiengine and instrument rating
· Ability to pass Class I flight physical every six months, FAA examinations and flight proficiency tests
· Minimum of 5000 flight hours 2500 hours multiengine and 2000 hours as pilot-in-command preferred
· Type rating in an aircraft type operated by NIKE preferred (GV or G550)
· Ability to set and execute vision/strategy on all aspects of flight operations
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize, set and manage department budgets
· Ability to identify and retrofit industry leading practices to drive business results
· Previous experience managing teams preferred
· Demonstrated ability to develop and lead high performing teams
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage projects
· Strong knowledge of the FARs, operating practices and procedures
· Ability to navigate and collaborate in a large corporate environment; navigates ambiguity
· Strong influencing and communication (verbal and written) skills, including high profile communications
· Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism as this position routinely deals with the
highest executive levels at NIKE
· Coachable and collaborative – seeks feedback and partnership; seeks continuous improvement of self and of the team
· Must be proficient in Microsoft office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
 
I just read that on PPW. I didn't know that. For the Oregon game up here in Seattle they all came in and were buddy buddy like they were the same flight department.

I'm sure they are friends, and I think they may possibly share the same hangar, but they are separate companies.
