I don't see anybody who is actually still in the business taking his word as gospel. About 6 years ago, somebody in a town hall meeting in CLT asked Parker about Lorenzo in reference to something else and basically Parker said "when I don't have anything nice to say I don't say anything."
Remember, media outlets will give pretty much anybody a microphone and a soap box (hell, they gave you one through the 3407 Families) if they think it will drive up ratings.
No, but the media is marketing him as a subject matter expert. And regardless of what Parker says publicly, his methods say otherwise. If you were following the methods of somebody forced to sign a lifetime no-compete clause, would you cop to it? But Parker has used mergers, hostile takeover bids, and bankruptcy merger acquisition to grow USAir/New American/Etc.
Leveraged buyout and takeover was Lorenzo's shtick. Remember Parker's run at Delta?
As for soapboxing- the media didn't give me one via the 3407 families- I put up a website and started doing interviews. I personally never interacted directly with the Families until I sent an email congratulating them on the success of their efforts. They media talked to me because I was willing to talk and put my name on things. I gave the issue a face that told the story.
That's the problem with invoking Lorenzo in the matter. Invoking him as the face that tells the story because he's the subject matter expect is hugely disingenuous. Setting him up as a credible source potentially validates his methods without giving equal time to the devastation to the industry that he caused.
