Wiggins Air BE99

Lets not forget travel benefits and the ability to just "show up" and jumpseat virtually anywhere in the world. I'd be toast without those!

I don't use it as much as I would like to, but I still love the fact that I can pretty much go to the airport, pick almost any plane, and hop on a flight to anywhere in the world for free/cheap.

I'm not excusing the pay for this position, but remember some guys in scheduled freight (especially FedEx freight) make a career of it. There's a lot to be said (including in terms of making less than an airline gig) for being home every day or night.

Having flown the beech 99 for a mentioned company, and an RJ FO; I am %1000 happier making less as a regional guy.

My QOL is exceptionally better as a regional guy. Time off, free travel etc...

Meh, no there isn't. Because in the freight world, you are doing what would normally be done with two different "normal" work schedules. So you are home every night from 2200 to 0415 Mon-Fri, wow great.... Or be home everyday from 0700 to 1600. Either way, it isn't quality time at home. Your wife and kids are sleeping when you get home, and go to work for an entire week, or they are at school/work. It makes me laugh to hear people brag about how they are home every night and most weekends. The reality of it is, when you have an airline type schedule, you have more days off and quality time home...

Large amounts of time off is my favorite part of 121 flying. Yeah, I'm relatively senior in base as an f/o, but in a normal month without vacation I can swing close to 2 weeks off if I need it, or I can work min days off and actually bring home a decent paycheck.

You were on the wrong side of the company that was not representative of this type of job. I can say with certainty what you did was completely different than the scheduled routes. And the route flying was cake.

Regional FO pay sucks BIG time!!! And crappy QOL goes along with that crappy pay.

My QOL was zero at freight company. I hated life. I can't say if I had a scheduled route I would have stayed.

Mine was the opposite - I had horrible QOL as a top 20% bidder at a regional (to the point I wanted to leave flying), and found myself much happier once I left for a scheduled freight company. Had the money been better, I wouldn't have left. On a fixed route, easy flying, at home every day, weekends off, good management.

To each his own, what works for me may not for you, and vice versa. That's the important thing to remember.

I have to say that I have yet to find a half way decent quality of life in this industry. Having worked for a mentioned company here, as well as 6 or so other • box operators, it seams like even the ones that look like theyll be great, end up sucking, and no matter how much you make, its not really worth it.

To be honest, that is typically the way of "135" in my experience thus far. This place has a pretty rough schedule some times, but it's better than the other places I've been.

What place was that?!

The Wiggins 99's fly UPS freight, tight schedules, not equal maintenance as FedEx's 208's.
You're living in New England- it is expensive!! Don't drink the company Kool Aid.

One of the RKD based 9K pilots took the Wig 99 position, presumably for the turbine PIC time? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, word is she's in the B6 Gateway program.
