The Southwest model: fly to lesser airports near a big city hub. Think PVD and MHT for Boston for years. Trenton-Princeton and ILM for Philadelphia on Frontier; Sanford for MCO on Allegiant; more as well for Spirit & others. Lower landing fees, rent and faster turns!

Also, leisure fliers ground-travel farther for a cheaper fare. And, in many cases, a traveler may live closer to the non-hub airport than the bigger hub with costly parking and greater delays. My personal rule-of-thumb is that I'd better save well over $100 as a wash to go to a not-as-close airport for a cheaper fare. That's gas, tolls, parking, my time, flight-schedule convenience, stops vs NS, etc. (Before I retired, my comparison number was higher!)

YMMV ;)

Hilarious is that you're almost better off landing in TPA to hit the parks than Sanford, having lived in central Florida.

Personally, I don't like their marketing department. I think they're merely a scintilla away from having naked fat men rollerblading in front of a mall with "Fly Spirit" written in body paint.

The crack at Spirit is likely in a critical engine part.

The jet that threw engine parts was still sitting at DFW as of a few days ago...

I'm going to need you to repeat this a couple million times - perhaps even add a banner ad to the site.

Personally, I'd argue you're better off landing at TPA than MCO to hit the parks, but I'm a bit biased.

Given the traffic in Orlando, the nightmare of tourists that MCO can be, the ripoff gas stations by the airport- TPA would be my preference.

Plus, you are that much closer to the nicest beaches in the state. Even assuming flights at exactly the same times, TPA might add 15 minutes to the trip. And is probably cheaper.

I'd go for Tampa also, but I'm biased too...

What's the minimum number of hours of rollerblading experience that they're looking for?

I am glad you have a board where people are allowed to disagree! The marketing is aligned with the brand. I believe that is much wiser than having a classy marketing campaign and delivering a substandard product. As a revenue passenger, the substandard is all I have had in the past few years. My personal recent favorite was the FA telling us they ran out of food on an international flight. OK. So, I asked for a glass of juice when they were done telling everyone they were out of food. I was told they were too busy and to come back to the galley. Then, an hour later I went to the lav and the FA's were all eating our food in the galley. The carts with all the undelivered food were there. I asked for my juice and the FA slammed down her plate and got it for me. Lazy witches...

Wasn't my airline and we're all not built the same. Did you book on quality or price?

Location--captive audience. The prices were all the same whether I flew out of PHL, EWR or JFK. But I've flown all in the past two years on paid tickets all over based on scheduling, not price and they all delivered poorly in terms of service.
