Ever flown an airplane you just don't like?

The 550 does everything very very well, the 650 feels like a big fat pig, and I have flown much larger airplanes that felt much more responsive.

That post was supposed to be sarcastic, most long time Gulfstream drivers I've talked to prefer a real G-IIB based on flying qualities alone. Same thing for lear drivers and a LR-28. Too loud, too much fuel and technology passed them by in the early 80's. No range, but you could put on an airshow everytime you take off. And I hate working on both, but I do respect them.

While it is heavy on the nose, if you add lots of nose-up trim (just watch out for that elevator trim stall) and accurately judge your flare, it's easier to land than a 17 2.
I flew one across the country without ever stepping foot in one. It's an airplane, they all fly differently. Unfortunately, there are way too many 182 with damage history because of pilot negligence.
I mostly like the C206, but the firewall is wayyyyy too high if you've got the G600/G1000. I've never been in an airplane before where I feel like I need a seat cushion to see over the dash.
Add a seat cushion.

Yeah, but that's the thing. I'm 5'7", sure I'm on the shorter side but I'm not that short. I'm a man, I can't bring myself to carry a seat cushion around... Haven't needed one in any other airplane yet.

747, everyone told me how much I was going to love it, could not stand the airplane and got off the first chance I got.

I wouldn't say it's the worst, but definitely not the best. Especially the 744 with the super floppy wing.

Worst: J31 and I only have about 10 hours flying it. Pros: Low Pay, unstable, couldn't fill the seats so only pissed off 16 at a time instead of 19, loud. Cons: flies like a Frasca instrument trainer, lands hard, brakes can't be used with any hope of them being smooth or symetrical, certified under a special FAR, continuously tried to kill you overtly & insidiously.

Honorable mention: A100

The Skycatcher. Like a really cheap, really loud 150 with a Kindle taped to the dash. Horrible seats and odd controls. Flew a brand new one five hours from Wichita. Never again.

I love the Metro for what it is...good at hauling a lot of freight on ridiculously long legs. But nothing will ever compete with the Baby Dash in my mind.

They made the people fatter and failed to give you a takeoff weight increase, despite reality.

The Embraer Brasilia: Pissing off the world 27.5 seats at a time.

BE20, reason #1,000,000 why it's a pile of crap.

The beech 19 was the most poorly designed aircraft I've flown. Everything about it was terrible. The one I flew was owned by a guy trying who wanted to get his private pilots certificate in it. The aircraft has poor stall characteristics and is under powered. Ventilation is none existent which made flight training in North Texas in the summer time very uncomfortable.

I carry a cushion...what are you trying to say? Lol

It's the cowl, most single engine cowls slope down, the 206H's doesn't because of that top down intake manifold. I sit higher in the airplane than I do in most too.

Care to elaborate on the oddities of the Jetscream? I love me a good airplane talk thread.

It's been years, so here's what I can faintly recall:
Built to haul 8 people with 700(?) SHP/side, put in 19 seats, a pod & 1000 shp/side.

Was designed to land on a carrier, gear legs reflected that.

Short coupled airplane? YD optional

Electrics by Lucas, Prince of Darkness, housed in a not very well sealed compartment.

Speaking of leaks, the one hydraulic system had a habit of spewing. Conveniently, the baggage pod caught it.

Take your hands off the yoke to grab something? Better unusual attitudes than your CFI. At least it was loud.

Oh did I mention that they invented a FAR to certify the takeoff "performance"

Had a Freon air conditioner. Cat D MEL. I'll let you guess what months that covered.

Last item on the after start check list "declare min fuel"

It's LOUD

At least the spar carry through the drop down aisle had a light above it do the pax wouldn't see the chunk of aluminium.

It flies like crap.

The cockpit DV Windows would fall out.

Loud. Mostly on the inside though.

The oxygen system control was designed in a way it was extremely easy to drop the rubber jungle turning it off.

At least it flew like crap.

Did I miss anything @ZapBrannigan ?

I did my CFI in that at American Flyers. All the complexity of the Cessna gear system but no benefits ( such as speed, increased useful load) like a 182RG.

I agree that Cessna's are boring, but I'd rather fly them than nearly any Piper. I prefer having two doors, thank you.

I did mine there too!...and that's where I flew the gutless. I'm just the opposite tho, give me a piper over a Cessna any day of the week!

Yeah I always have it in the highest possible seat position. It drives me crazy though. I'm used to it, but a cushion would probably be nice. I just don't want to carry it around all the time.

I'm a pretty tall guy, but it's all legs - I cranked the 206 seat position up pretty far to be able to feel comfortable seeing and taxiing.

I'll never complain about the EMB 120 again after reading this.
