American Airlines Hiring

How many Eagle flow throughs are there?

How many is AA planning on flowing up per month/class?

Technically, nearly 3000 Eagle flow-throughs. Thanks to an arbitration settlement in 2011 everybody on property hired up to October of 2011 has rights now.

So Im a little confused... It says they will accept applications on AACareers.com but I there isn't anything on there at the moment.

Is Pilot Credentials the only place to put your info? The reason for the confusion is that Southwest has you apply on their website but they also have Pilot Credentials. Are both required?

Thanks for the insight.

So they wind Eagle down.....

Not sure how else they'll staff the place? They're already having issues filling classes right?

Good news though if you're in the top few hundred at Eagle!

Anyone taken the online survey yet? WTF with these multiple choice questions??

Also, under Certification where it asks if you have BGT, do you check yes for any type ratings you hold?

"Can you count to ten?" ..;)
I bet some of those were to make sure you were reading the question

Update... I Googled 'BGT rating' in case their was something specific that I was not aware of and all I received were poor reviews of 'Britain's Got Talent.'

Yeah it seems the assessment was a combination of - is this really the applicant taking the test, and also are you going to be part of a "new culture" they are trying to create. Many of the questions were vague at best.

Basic Gas Turbine, I read similar to an FE written. The consensus I ready said most people are checking "NO".

If they can't determine that I'm not qualified to operate a turbine with my 3000 PIC and 3000 SIC in one, not sure checking that box will help.

*shrugs* Maybe that's the plan. Maybe not. A while back there was rumor AA was taking interest in Eagle hiring standards and possibly setting up some sort of pass-through. I can only speculate.

One thing that would be interesting- as AA syphons off Eagle pilots the cost induced by pilot longevity will drop like a stone. If movement goes and upgrade time drops below industry average, Eagle would be marketed as the upgrade mill du jour.

... hard to tell what the head she'd is thinking about things with this many moving parts. Time will tell. I think soon, at that.

Never really gave that any thought. It's definitely something that might work with the bonus and a halfway decent contract in current conditions. At 9E we're getting REALLLLLY short on FOs and everyone is scratching their heads wondering how the place is gonna be staffed. Unless this SSP thing moves the upgrade to 12-18 months it just isn't gonna happen.

Everybody is getting short on prospects and applicants. Rumors are circulating that even some widebody operators and box carriers are wondering about their future hiring pool. That's the funny thing about all this- the jets move fast, but the business moves slow as slow.

If a great 'pilot shortage' really hits, it'll creep in like the fog, not hit like a truck.

As for what really happens with Eagle, I dunno. I'm starting to think that the Republic and Skywest/XJT flying immediately farmed out was a hedge against a personnel shortage. With a real recruiting problem putting all your eggs in one basket would be foolish. Makes us easier to whipsaw, too.

Ergo, we need to stop taking hits to get new flying. There's going to be plenty. We just have to be patient- if a rising tide lifts all boats, that means the sea level comes up on its own- not because we drilled a hole in the boat and sank it.

Weren't you saying Eagle was going to get CRJ-900s? Still think that is a possibility?

I was saying if Eagle got new airplanes, it would most likely be of that variety. Makes sense- it's just a differences class add-on to the existing CRJ program.

Whether or not we really do get new airframes at all is anybody's guess. I actually pressed one of our suits when I was in recurrent about a fleet plan, and he went blank-faced and restated the plan to retire or return the smaller Embraers. Given past history at AMR specifically., I'd think we would, as AMR *really* likes to have a firm grasp on what they're doing. Given the trend to divest and diversify, maybe not.

It comes down to this- does AMR prefer the devil it knows, or the one it doesn't? With FFD supply getting scarce, labor isn't the only sector that could squeeze a mainline partner if things went far enough. Keeping things in house might be really smart.

Given the cronyism at AMR, I wouldn't be surprised if Eagle sticks around just because it'd mean parting ways with people that know where bodies are buried just to further outsource.

Edit: Footnote: I think we'll eventually get something- they've worked pretty hard to squeeze us to make us worth keeping, and an organic asset is the bird-in-hand a lot of airline staffers can't seem to find these days. Time will tell.

I still have yet to hear from the horse's mouth about a lack of applicants. My company has had absolutely no issues hiring folks and we have zero future and a stagnant fleet. All I hear are 3rd person "reports" about entire classes just not showing up.

I hear a lot of things this way and that. I also hear Eagle lines up a room full of people for interviews and turns them all away.
I *do* know that Eagle is working overtime to establish recruiting relationships with CFIs and the like who haven't met the R-ATP requirements but will soon, and are posting job positions internally for pilot recruiters.

I have a friend that was turned away from Republic and Eagle. They must not be too desperate. He has some issues but they certainly wouldn't have been deal breakers if they're truly desperate for people.
