New PSA TA?

Y'all should have had a combined contract by now........

.......like in 2011

Granted that we should've had a contract already but how does that change the situation with PSA? Are you saying that in future negotiations our management would not use what PSA just voted in if we already had a contract?

Can't imagine why anyone thinks this.

... which means you have limited imagination. USAir needs AA to compete against Delta and United- they don't have the organic growth capacity that AA does. AA's plan forward for a few years was organic growth, and the merger specter only raised its head in Ch 11. Probably because it's Parker's backdoor takeover plan.

I know it would be much better for the industry if US and AA merged, better pay and more revenue. I can't imagine how AA throwing more seats into the market can be better for the airlines or themselves. I honestly doubt AA is capable of the growth horton wanted to push.

Horton suggested the merger to parker during 2010 if I'm not mistaken, only reason horton WAS against it is because he was the one who wanted to run the show.

Seat capacity reduction assumes four major legacy carriers reducing to three. Parker knows that the fourth carrier in this scenario is likely to whither- that's why he's foaming at the mouth to get the merger done.

AA is incapable of the organic growth? How so? What facts do you base this on? A huge leaseback aircraft purchase has been driving this for a few years now.

USAir needs AA. AA does not need USAir.

AA wants to grow 20% on their own, I highly doubt that is realistic.
Maybe you're right that US needs it more than AA, but only to be able to become what dal and ua are today. But if the merger is scrubbed US can go back to their niche market as an LLC for the short term future. I don't know how viable AA is as a distant third to ua and dal. New a/c come with bigger leases, I'm not sure aa can take on all that debt even with the more efficient fleet they will have.

The reason @skyw82 and @Firebird2XC are arguing (or should I say share differing opinions?) is the same reason that this TA passed:

Pilots are selfish. Everyone is just looking out for themselves, and not the collective career/group. Skyw82 wants the merger to proceed because it benefits him. Firebird2xc wants the merger to fail because that would benefit him (more outsourcing of mainline flying to Eagle and other subcontractors in order to facilitate "AA" growth). The PSA pilots decided that it was worth it to vote in this TA (and concessions?) because it gives them a better chance at growth, movement, and a path to the ultimate goal in this airline career: mainline.

It probably hurts the regional pilot sector as a whole, but why would they care? It helps them (or so they think), and pilots are selfish.

Meanwhile at ALPA Online:
"PSA Pilots Ratify Agreements Guaranteeing the Placement of Large Regional Jets at PSA
September 27, 2013 - PSA pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), today ratified tentative agreements reached with the managements of PSA Airlines and its parent company, US Airways Group Inc. (NYSE:LCC), that guarantee the placement of 30 large regional jets at PSA. With 85.99 percent of eligible pilots casting their ballots, 61 percent voted in favor of the agreements.

“These agreements secure substantially enhanced opportunities for our pilots to progress to our mainline partner and job protections for them here at PSA, while also protecting the core of our compensation and work rules, which fosters a better environment for PSA to attract new-hire pilots,” said Capt. Jesse Coeling, chairman of ALPA’s PSA Master Executive Council (MEC). The agreements are contingent on the merger of US Airways Group and AMR Corporation by December 31, 2015.

Sounds Awesome!

Post of the thread.....

My opinions of the merger don't necessarily reflect my interest. AA not merging might benefit my interest, but that's beyond me to say. I'm years from any real payout there. As for the nature of the merger, it is what it is.

... And where do you work again? A CLT based CL-65 operator?

I'm curious- how'd you vote? You can talk about others being selfish, but you're just deflecting scrutiny. The PSA kids just screwed *everybody* with a seriously weak TA. But desperation comes in all flavors, I guess.

You're hardly one to talk.

We've already discussed the nature of your character.

I'm still wondering why you weren't banned for your character assassination against him. Why Derg would allow such disgusting nonsense to go on in his "living room" is beyond me.

The strength of Seggy's character is well known by many people around here. Your efforts to smear it will not be successful.

The strength of Seggy's character is a political sham and will no longer be perpetuated.

If the moderators wanted to ban me, they would have. But I've heard nothing of it. Gee...

You can debate a person to the ends of the earth, but when you call into question someone's character, you'd certainly better make your case rather than trying to troll someone into an argument.
