Mesa to Operate E175; Extends CRJ Agreement

So... Mesa pilots are illegal immigrants? Besides it's a just an academic point... ALL regionals have crappy pay and work rules. You are just arguing whose regional is the worse? They ALL are bad. With that being said, I'd rather enjoy the type of RJ I fly and fly one that most approximates what I'll eventually be flying at mainline. That would be the ERJ175 series.

Pretty cocky to be saying you will eventually be at mainline.

And crappy pay? I'm a year 2/3 FO and I've made $39,xxx already this year. Looking like I will be grossing close to $57,000 this year. Decent as an FO. But have fun making $20,000 less flying the same amount of seats on that ERJ at Mesa!

So.... everyone of YOU, who are excited inwardly to fly RJs, but to save face and be in the cool "clique" have to publicly rebuke anyone who shows any outward excitement about the opportunity to fly RJs.

Who said I'm inwardly or exwardly excited about flying a regional jet? I don't give a rats rear end what it is. I just worry about the bacon. How much bacon? How fast can I get more bacon? And do I have enough days off to eat said bacon? You go ahead and be all giggity about flying the baby bus. I'm gonna enjoy my bacon.

I'll be the first to admit, but I'm very fortunate to be in the financial position to not have to chase the highest paycheck. I have an outside source of income that allows me to live a nice life, so the pay at the regional will be just gravy on the top. While you my be chasing the highest pay, I'm chasing the quick upgrade and the type of RJ that will be looked upon most favorably by the majors. I'd rather make a few dollars less and fly the ERJ175 than a few dollars more and fly a CR2 or ERJ145.

Don't call me cocky, call me confident.

Sadly there are many more pilots like this guy out there. Some are current classmates and friends of mine. :(

I dont see how the 175 will be looked at as favorable by the majors. At the end of the day if you didnt fly an C17, KC135, or a fighter I promise you the majors won't give a crap. I guarantee you won't get a job over a CRJ pilot just because you fly the 175.

Show me the Kosher Bacon!

Call you an ass for undercutting the rest of us trying to make a living.

Might be time to cut off the phone and keep the beer flowing!

Can someone call me the hotel shuttle in a couple hours?

What people here are trying to tell you is that, and I may sound a bit dramatic, there may not be majors left in the future if airlines are allowed to pay pilots crappy pay for flying a lot of people over long distances. Think about it . . . if manufacturers keep coming up with larger airplanes but somehow they're still named "RJ", then what is going to stop the airlines from paying pilots "regional" pay and benefits instead of "majors" pay and benefits for flying bigger and larger planes? Remember, regional planes in the past used to be 19-20 seat aircraft.

Mother Nature has given us humans the gift of a brain that can understand long-term consequences to present-day actions . . . I'd suggest you start using it or you find yourself flying for food throughout your aviation career if you know what I mean (I hope you do).

You are naive if you think a relatively small number of entry level pilots are going to outsmart an entire airline industry. Management reads us like a cheap book. They know that our LOVE of flying will allow us to put up with most anything just to have the best office view in the world.

If the airlines morph to regionals, then that's the natural process at work and there is nothing that YOU or I can do to stop it. Why hasn't ALPA and the other airline unions put a stop to it yet? What makes you think YOU or I can do to stop it?

LIke i said, I'm OK with the current system as I'm confident I won't be "stuck" there long term.
