Delta orders some Airbuses. Airbii? Airbux?

It was like:

"What the hell is that?"

"I don't know, I got a contact in maintenance somewhere"

"Oh crap, he doesn't know!" :)
The company likes to implement new stuff and never tell anyone that is required to know until after it's been implemented and someone has to ask what the hell it is and how the hell do you use it! We've been using a new system for MRO work and are just now starting to use it for our own aircraft. Rolled it out, then gave everyone 5 minutes of training and said have at it. Doesn't talk any of the other two systems we're using either!

Is your division doing "Training By Hidden Memo" too?

"Oh yeah, that's in a EFB, or a FB. Or maybe it was a SB. Or an ESB. I don't know JUST DO IT!" :)

Oh yeah! Last time I got any decent training or heads up for new system change was when we brought over all the NW materials over during the red to blue cutover.

SP, FOIB, FOAB, TR, MD, PCR, DVR, PTO...

Also, don't walk into American Eagle and say "advanced entitlement." They'll have no idea what you're talking about.

I know.

Training by memo is TERRRRBLE.

"Hey! You're supposed to do that!"

"No we're not that changed"

"Oh, really? What about memo 123-abc?"

"Superceded by memo def-456?"

"Oh snap"

"FLARE!!! FLARE For the love of God, FLARE!"

What's even more entertaining is the memo to the memo.

"Caution: Allow NH RPM to decrease to 0% before moving condition levers to MIN RPM for the prop aux feather test. Fire may result..."

Some folks need to just go back to the line.

Change for change's sake rarely gives favorable outcomes.

(That's not an argument for "that's how we've always done it!" - which is the OTHER big copout in aviation...)

I wonder if the 321s are going to be all pimped-out for the magical premium SFO/LAX-JFK transcons to compete with AA who is putting lie flat beds in 321s on the route.

I don't think the braintrust at AMR realized that the planes that are doing the transcons to the west coast usually come in from Europe and would be sitting around the ramp for hours doing nothing so it's really more "cross utilization".

But lets but some sweet jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjetz. Maybe the people that made the CGI commercial with the Kanye West song are in charge of fleet planning now.

Maybe, but probably not really. The number of RJs flying around is shrinking (slightly) but the number of seats flown by RJs is staying the same or possibly going up.

There are also a number of cities that are now Express only that had mainline service in the recent past.
Even with the additional jumbo RJs allowed, a reduction of at least 1/3 of the total seats flown by the regionals is occurring in the DL system.

So glad to see the 321s ordered! The thought of more 737s just makes me shudder... More comfortable cockpit, much higher gross weight, much more powerful engines, and more comfortable cabin. They will hold 7 more people than the 757s now (with a wider cabin than the 757)...amazing.

Don't even get me started on 10 growth widebodies. That's going to bode well for additional hiring and movement in the company. I've heard mixed stories on whether the 321s are growth or not.

I'm always skeptical.

"Growth" now because the natives are restless.

"Replacement", maybe, after the natives aren't so restless.

Captain Fabulous is pissed because they weren't ER's. I wanted to say "If your 61 year old ass is upset because they weren't old assed ER's, it's time to bid the 777 or retire".

Truth. I'm pretty confident the 330s are.

If there isn't a 320 life extension program that comes with this order, 3209-3250 may be gone. That's 41 320s that need to be parked in a few years. That leans toward the 321s being replacements. I need some more deets about this deal!

Me too.

People think I'm negative, I've just "played this game" far too much during my career.
