Call me old fashioned...

On the topic of 727-100s, those things looked damn good in bare metal. I really liked the Frontier Horizon livery, which may have been the first time a large US carrier spun off its own independent LCC. The "first" Frontier created this airline in the mid 80s to do no-frills service from Denver Stapleton to mostly the East and West Coast leisure markets like SFO, LGA, ect.

I'm also a fan of couple other lesser known 727-100 liveries from the 80s.

SFO, I'm about to blow your mind. If you like the 727 in bare metal, there was this airline called American Airlines. They flew the 727-100 series back in the day. You should google that. It, "should" be found there.
Wasn't sure if you had ever heard of, American Airlines, they were a small outfit! ;)

<-----is like a search engine. Full of obvious information and trivia type things!

Oh yeah! :)

Does Alaska still do the combos to the bush. I remember jumping into 737-2s that were part cargo, part cattle out of places like Nome and Kotz. One time they forgot to secure the front legs of my seat to the floor. Told the FA who relayed it to the captain. FA returns from the intercom and tells me, "I'm sorry sir, the captain says we're already taxiing. We'll have to deal with that once we've leveled off at altitude." I'm not the litigious type, but years later a lawyer told me I didn't have to be. All I would have had to do was ask for a great big check as I exited the aircraft.
Yep. Still running the combis. But now they are -400 combis. They are a great ride to and from work.

I tried really hard to get on at Grand Air. They flew out of the Imperial terminal at LAX where SMB has their Convairs.
I wonder if when MGM folded, those guys ended up at Champion. I know Champion got their start from MGM, always wondered about the crews.

Well crap! Shows what I know about aviation trivia. But let's face it the 727 was awesome. Heck even when Trump defiled one it still looked fine (on the outside).

I would launch into another story about my love of the 727 but I'll save it for later.

You know he "defiled" more than one airplane, right? And I'm not talking about the new 757...

Did US Airways or Delta buy that operation to start their shuttle service? I forget.
As stated before, Trump bought the Eastern Shuttle and USAir bought the Trump Shuttle, so we have Eastern guys via Trump. In fact, our most senior FA (as featured in the inflight magazine a few months ago) got her start at Eastern and is still flying the Shuttle to this day.

Still one of my favorites:

When I started at Skywest we had station agreements to fly them for free. I kept requesting tickets, but could never find a reason to go to MCI or MKE before they became Republic. Midwest was the victim of the priceline generation of travelers. An extra $100 for full frills service just isn't worth it to most people these days...
