Knee replacement: Do I need an FAA exam before flying

I know that some procedures require an exam before resumption of flying. Where is that list and what is on that list?

There is no list. Best to call your AME to see if he thinks you need to report the surgery the FAA before you return to flight status.

I have had both of my knees replaced one five years ago and one 6 months ago and all I had to do was be sure and get an op (operation) report from my knee dr. I sent one in to CAMI after my knee dr released me to return to work. ( 6 weeks) and I took a copy in with me to my next physical and have not heard anything from CAMI. Be sure to check with your AME as to what he wants. GOOD LUCK! It was worth it for me!

I second that, I had a cadaver knee transplant and had no problems with my AME or going back to work. Good luck!
