Scam or Good?

Here is a little more info:

The cost of instruction is added into the rental rate of the aircraft for one flat (expensive) price. So if you do the math and break it down by typical aircraft and instruction rates, it comes out to $50/hr that the student is paying for instruction. Since the instructors are there all of the time, ground school is "free" (see below).

However, if you are soloing, the price of the aircraft is still that as if you were flying with an instructor (still that expensive rate). It's an odd system.

Hmmm. So a hypothetical PPL student (lets take me as an example) flies about 1/2 dual, 1/2 solo. And is effectively paying $100/hour for instruction here. The owner is breaking even on paying you if you average 45 minutes of instruction per day. Anything after that is profit for him.

Well its more of that ground school is advertised as "free", and the student effectively pays for it when he or she solos. But essentially yes, as formal ground school is very rare.
