Air Force Pilot Shortage!

I thought the only additional duty blue suiters had involved woods, irons, and a putter. :) I once heard the Priorities of Work when establishing a new base was 1) runway, 2) golf course, 3) BX, and 4) Class 6. 'Em priorites are all messed up. How do you expect to get anything done unless #4 is first?

I think #1 and #2 are reversed :)

The real question is, how much time will you waste daily doing your "collateral duties" that have less than zero to do with flying or even mission oriented stuff, but are more like a triple redundant version of first-grade elementary school busywork, for no other real reason other than "just because", ...... And the true mission of yours becomes, after spending 14-16 hours a day at work so you can appear busy, the true mission becomes living to work, as opposed to working to live.......

I thought my first year in Germany as the snack bar officer added value.

Later in life, working at the Wing level was great. After bs'ing for the first hour you checked out to go visit the squardron, followed by lunch at the O'Club, followed by a "shelf check" at the BX then back to the Wing to see if the old man had anything for you. Tax dollars hard at work.

Mike D speaks the truth even back in the early 80s one the A-10 pilots who was doing SOF dutys one day told us in the tower that Air Traffic Control was one of the best jobs in the USAF and was almost better than being a pilot. he explained all the other jobs that they had to do in the squadron, where ATCSs all we did was work traffic and go home and get drunk till the next shift, we almost never got extra duty due to our crew rest requirements. at one time just after the PATCO strike the USAF was even thinking about making us Warrent Officers, had they did that i would have stayed in!

I wish I had a clue what secret message was hidden in this image.

Apparently, whatever the secret message is, it's vital to flying fighters :)

:aghast: WHAT ARE YOU BLIND !!!!??? It's 28 !

Which shouldn't be surprising, as everyone is overall treated like a child by Big Blue anyway rather than an adult. And the true mission of yours becomes, after spending 14-16 hours a day at work so you can appear busy, the true mission becomes living to work, as opposed to working to live.......ALL in the name of fufilling the second of three USAF Core Values: "Service before Self."

Oh, and with all of the above, you'll do some flying.....when you have time.

Thank you, school these youngsters!

The present day "cheer force" isn't our grandaddy, nor father's AIR FORCE! Entering with leadership qualities and a sense of service to nation and family is essential to the Officer Corps.

Then again that's partly what OCS will engrave in the youths entering service.

In my last physical in February, I had to do both color vision tests, so if they're changing over to the computer system they are backing it up with the printed plates as of yet.

Like I said, I haven't taken one in two or three years, they just kind of skipped it towards the end.

I asked a recruiter yesterday. They said no truth to the article:)

The irony.

But I know what you did. Unless you are under the incorrect assumption that recruiters actually know anything about the operational Air Force, or how things are done four MAJCOMs over.

It it worth it? And isn't this the same for all branches? I'm still trying to figure out wht you do 14 hours a day.

Quick! Spread the word that the majors are now looking for single seat fighter time above all else. They'll have a surplus by next week...

About the Navy 50% helo chance...off the top of my head I know only 1 person who got helo's that didn't want them. If you don't want helo's in the Navy then you will most likely not get them. From the QOL and cool factor... Helo over fighters. .

HAHAHAHAAAAA. HAHAHAAAAAAA.
HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. AAAAA. A.

Perhaps, and will promptly find you passed over for promotion wondering why the squadron cheerleader volunteer bitches who are terrible at their actual jobs get promoted.
