This ad

Bleh, I know a few pilots with sleeve tattoos, including myself. A long sleeve does wonders. As for the ad, I would have most certainly had the guy wear a long sleeve. It does look pretty tacky. Ive used that same MS Publisher template too. :D

I usually take the side against the fashion police in the "professional dress" arguments, but in this case I agree with ATN.

If you are going to wear a uniform, especially in an advertisement that will be published nationally, then do so correctly. Your tie needs to be tied properly, top button needs to be fastened.

If you have sleeve tattoos, then you need to wear long sleeve shirts to cover them. If you have tats that will not be covered by a long sleeve shirt, then you need to make an appointment with your dermatologist and get them lasered off, which BTW hurts at least 4X as bad as getting inked in the first place.

Yeah. It seemed disorganized, sort of randomly put together, and way overpriced. The planes didn't look overly spectacular either. It was essentially just a big hanger and tables and spaces and planes. Very small-time feel but with huge-time prices.. like it was a mom&pop outfit trying to be a big deal by buying a bigger sign to put in front of the building.

The school I finally went with had a "let's just get this done" attitude- but they pulled some ad shenanigans too. They advertised 'gps, storm scopes, radar, autopilots in the planes' but somebody failed to mention that one plane had radar, one had a gps, one had a storm scope, etc.. and often things just didn't work. Gee.

The one place that really impressed me with their facility was Flight Safety in Vero Beach- they had a clean, modern dorm, a very shiny building and lots of pretty painted planes... which according to somebody I spoke with there were almost always done for squawks.. and DAYAMN were they expensive.

The big label schools never really did it for me- my best experiences were the crusty old CFI that really knew his or her stuff and taught at a part 61 flying club. I was really lucky to get some of those experiences.
