Nextant Hawker 400XP Range

Cessnaflyer

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Are they really able to squeeze another 500 nm by changing the engines on these things and getting a 2000 mile range with 4 people?

Williams produce quality products that meet expectations (CJ line). I may be a bit bias, though.

The new engines make a huge difference. I have no doubt they are getting more than 500nm more than the straight Beechjet. However, I would put as much faith in the 2005nm range claim as I would in any range claim from any manufacturer.

Alex.

Regular Beech is a 1100ish NM airplane.

Well then I guess they are advertising a 900 mile increase in range! Amazing what a little aerodynamic rework and some efficient engines can do. What about Beeches XPR upgrade? They say the Nextant engine choice is not suitable for the 400.

2000 mile range is based on manufacturer book numbers, not real world ops. I can guarantee, like any airplane that the book numbers are going to be a couple hundred pounds less fuel then you would ever be comfortable landing with.

Is your boss entertaining the idea of a CJ2+, CJ3 or CJ4? I really think this series, especially the latter two would kill your mission.

Haven't heard him talk about it. I'll have to ask him on the next flight again.

No, the BE400xp is advertised as a 1600nm airplane, so +500 seems about right. Zero wind, I don't plan on getting any more than 1100 out of it.

It supposedly has a fuel capacity of 4900lbs, I assume 4700. I also plan on landing with 1000-1200 pounds. First hour is roughly 1500-1600, every subsequent hour is 1100ish. I plan on roughly 445ktas at 38,000. It works out pretty nicely at a 3hr15 airplane.

Landing with 800, and getting up to 430, cruising at .72 you may well see better range, but I would not be overly comfortable.

With full fuel, you have around 600-700lbs useful payload.

I think the XPr makes similar claims as the NXT.

Straight XP will do 1200-1300 reliably if you're not a nancy. ;)

But yeah, 1100 is a lot more comfortable.

Seats are good for maybe 900, though. I just did 1500 in a PC-12 and I feel about 1000% better than doing 1000 in a Bitchjet in half the time.

Color me a nancy then!

You flying a /47 or /45? I found the seats on the 45s to be significantly more comfortable.

This is a lot more than a little aerodynamic rework... they have the benefit of CFD analysis, modern engines, and a whole host of other trickeries.
