This job would be easier without all the airplanes
Holy crap... it really did almost cartwheel, I thought that was just typical mis information

For those complaining about Fox News why watch it?
I'm guilty of occasionally watching out of curiosity. I can typically only stand about 60 seconds at a time, though.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting.Mostly basics, but here are notes from the Deborah Hersman conference going on now:
CVR:
-CVR 2 hr recording, good quality
-recording began in cruise flight
-Flight cleared for visual approach 28L
-Confirmed by crew
-Aircraft configured for approach (based on CVR)
-Flaps 30 degrees, gear down (based on CVR)
-Target speed 137 kts (based on CVR)
-Approach proceeds normally during descent, no discussion of anomalies or concerns
-Call from crewmember to increase speed made 7 seconds prior to impact
-Stick shaker 4 seconds in impact
-Call to initiate go-around 1.5 seconds to impact
FDR:
-24 hrs of recorded data
-1400 parameters
-captured entire flight
-During approach, data indicate throttle idle
-Airspeed below target airspeed
-Throttles advanced few seconds prior to impact
-Engines respond normally
Yeah, I am watching it. No bueno. Airspeeed below what is needed and they are low and flat....no time left to do anything.
More time and altitude than they had. You can't just go from idle to enough power that quickly....the engines need time to spool back up even though your airborne idle is higher than your ground idle. For those of us who don't fly jets, how long does it take from when you increase power to when you actually get that power?
That's what I figured. Thanks!More time than they had. You can't just go from idle to enough power quickly....the engines needs time to spool back up.
I wonder if any of the 4 pilots in the cockpit spoke up
