Looking at possible lateral move

I'm not entirely sure how working at RAH or Gojets equates to being a scab.

The next time some holier than thou RJ pilots opens their mouth, the phantom pooper is going to visit their Vfile.
Get over yourself.

didn't mention anything about them being scabs... it was more towards the "bus driver job" or "wal mart greeter" (RAH), and the union-less (Gojetz) aspect of that.. but hey... you can take it and run with the scab part if it makes you feel better? :)

Erm, doesn't HoJetz GeauxJets GoJets have a union?

^. No. Learn to read before posting. Stop assuming. Now that you 4 dingbats have successfully hijacked this poor guys thread, lets get back to the point... The lateral move...

Where do you work? Can you get me a job?

So here it goes, currently flying a beech 1900 trying to transition to the Saab since January and it is always "next month". My commute on a good day is 3 legs 13 hours and always on my day off so on 3 days off I am home for one full day most time just recouping from flying all week. I would love to move to base but it is not in my wife and two kids best interest. I have been hitting the job fairs hard but no luck I have 4200 total with 1200 in the Beech. I was offered an interview with Skywest, I want it my wife says no because of the pay cut. Msp and ord would be a one leg 45 minute commute only problem is they are hiring into the emb-120 which is all west coast so at least I can make it a one leg just not right away, I would be very happy with the possibility of a one leg commute. So here is the 10 million dollar question should I stay and hope some Spirit, Virgin, Sun Country, (long shot) United recruiter miss dials me and offers an interview and get a job. Or try to explain why I went from left seat of a turbo prop to the right seat?
I should also state current company is either going to take of or sink quickly as we lost some flying in billings and have yet to make a deduction to pull out or stay; and I am currently half way up the seniority list.
Thanks for the help and input

First off, take the interview. You don't HAVE to take the job, but not taking the interview empties your options box for that airline, Secondly, working for Skywest opens up opportunities; not only for domicile, but for professional growth.

This last part is a bit difficult, but I would suggest that you and your wife need to come some sort of understanding on things. Yes, you would give up some pay in the short term, but that would be made up for with more time at home and, as someone else pointed out, less commuting expenses. When a spouse values income over time at home, that's very telling. It's saying that she values the house and the car more than the well being of her family.

Well she doesn't value the income just Doesn't want to go back to struggling to get by and living paycheck to paycheck

It doesn't, but people are ignorant. I really wish some would stop watering down the name....

They're in the club but don't know the secret handshake.

Speaking of I haven't heard a id worn backwards story in awhile.
#memories.
Let me help with that. 2 weeks ago waiting for the train to the parking garage. Gojet pilot walks in doors close and he reaches down, unclips his ID and flips it around the right way after walking through the terminal. I was in disbelief, it was my first experience seeing that first hand.

The funny thing is that most of these people were either in diapers or not even born when the "Class of '83" came about.

That would have been a pretty big diaper for me! Ha!

I have no interest in hearing the reasons "why" someone scabbed, especially in that era when the unions were stronger, people knew what the word truly meant and the ramifications that they would deal with after crossing.

Luckily, well, for the lack of a better descriptor, they did it in the early 80's. Any other point in labor history, a lot more consequences other than being a social pariah in the pilot lounge could have occurred.

<-- Just watched a documentary about Henry Ford on PBS

Is that for real? Someone actually put crap in a V file?

I don't work for PSA, but judging from the uber-serious tones of the industrial-grade ALPA droid, it sounds like it.
Is that the same guy that crapped up the 2nd floor of the candle wood during newhire at skywest a few years ago?

Dude, ew.

Ignorance of history dooms pilots to repeat it.
