It took exactly 4 hours. After we finished with my paper work, the examiner told me to teach him the learning process, instructor responsibilities and professionalism. As most of you know, the learning process is very long. About half way through, he told me to stop and move on to the responsibilities. I covered aviation instructor responsibilities, flight instructor responsibilities, and professionalism. Again, he interrupted me and said “Enough with the FOI”. At that point, I felt relieved to have that out of the way! That took an hour.
After the break, he had me teach him runway incursion avoidance, logbook entries, and the national airspace system. Everything was pretty straightforward. He just wanted to know that I knew what I was talking about. After I covered those, he asked me these questions:
What can we do to improve safety in regards to runway incursion?
What endorsements do we exactly need for a student pilot through private, and commercial?
Which endorsements go in the back of the medical?
What endorsements do we need to solo in class B?
What’s the difference between class G and E besides weather min.?
Show me how all airspace look like in in the sec. chart.
How do we know if we are in Class G, and not E? How do we distinguish between them?
Talk to me about special use airspace.
That took more than an hour and a half, and then we took a break.
After we came back, he had me teach performance and limitations. I taught him how to do basic weigh and balance, how to use performance charts, effects of CG, density altitude, and pressure altitude. It took along time, since it was more like a discussion than presenting a lecture.
After we were done with that, he had me teach him 8s on pylons.
4 hours later, we were done. I PASSED the oral part! Due to the • weather, I haven’t done the flight portion yet. Since it was Saturday, I went to the bar, drank some Goldschlager, rum, and drank some more Goldschlager until I passed out. Woke up the next day naked next to a beautiful girl whom apparently I’m still dating. I really think it’s gonna work out
…and that’s how my weekend went!
