Red Bull Flugtag

We have always gone with family and friends to the Flugtag in Long Beach for many years. It's really more fun than a barrel of drunken monkeys. We were bummed that they haven't had one here the last two years but it's back this year and we are going. There is everything from what really looks like some type of aircraft or helicopter to birds, and then slapping wings on anything crazy, to see if it will fly. The costumes and get-ups that the teams wear really add to the whole thing too. It's a great event for the entire family and the teams work for months on their projects. It's a lot of work to design and build your entry, but I can't imagine anything that would be more creative, more fun or more interesting for flight students to do. Plus they will meet teams made up of pilots, engineers, teachers, the military, other students, people and professions from every walk of life. I hope they get accepted.

Edit: Just took a look at their facebook page. Terrific!!!! They will fit right in! I think their idea is wonderful!!! Loved the carrier row boat too!! lmao
 
I have friends that have won it twice in a row, they have a blast and it's a good party. First contest- all the team members got a trip to Kirby's ranch and rides in the two seat Red Bull Edge 540. Second contest- all the team members went skydiving with the Red Bull Air Force.

Well, they are officially selected to compete in Dallas on Sept 21.

We have been finalizing the design and will begin building it soon.
