Much obliged, partner. ;)

I have always been fascinated at the following question: How has Gulfstream girl and her rapid ascent into Gulfstreamdom in any way affected or diminished anyone else and their career climb? Did Gulfstream Girl somehow take the seat YOU were going to sit in? If in fact she blew her way to the top...are people somehow jealous that they did not get the same opportunity (to blow their way to the top that is)? It's like Amjon in another thread complaining about how much doctors make - the fact that YOU make what you make has no direct correlation with what doctors make. Want to make what a doctor makes? Do what it takes to be a doctor. Want to sit in the Gulfstream? Do what Gulfstream Girl did to get there. Self promotion? Sure, she's a self-promoter. That doesn't make her unique in the age of Facebook and live-blogging every bowel movement you have.

Is it bad that my twitter handle is @porcelainthrone and that I started said twitter handle to mockingly tweet about every bowel movement I made?

As an aviation professional, I feel it takes a relatively low-experienced professional and almost brings that person to the level of spokesman for us on an almost "cartoonish" schtick.

She's a girl flying an airplane. Wow.

At my airline, we have many women flying airplanes, day in, day out. Tall ones, short ones, civilians, veterans, former (and present) chief pilots, line check airmen, some that would have a great radio career and some that will literally stop traffic in the terminal.

My female co-workers expect to be treated like everyone else.

If her fanbase was socioeconomic groups that thought "I can't fly, but now I know I could if I put my mind to it" that all of the internet hype is meant for is one thing. But it seems like the same basement dwellers that fawned over one of our previous, admittedly attractive users from the early 2000's, who would engage in elementary school-level private message fisticuffs over who claimed protective custody and ownership of, it's something else.

One of my really good friends from college, who is one of my co-workers now, part owner of a Aerospace firm in Illinois and (I think still) owns and flies her own L-39 Albatross who is almost a dead ringer for Tina Fey would sooner kick your ass than let you reduce her to a internet meme for 18 year old boys and old men in their mom's basements.

Like me. I'm a pilot. And I'm black. BIG FLIPPING WHOOP. I have more professionalism than to market myself as "BlackBoeingBoy" to lonely schoolgirls in Florida.

You're BLACK????

I'm not a pilot anymore, so it doesn't affect me at all. If she in fact blew her way to the top, more power to her. I'm not going to "do what it takes" to climb to fly a G-550 if that's what it takes. I was just pointing out that she really isn't that attractive. I could name probably a dozen or more female pilots I flew with in my aviation career who are much more attractive, and who don't self-promote with Facebook pages.

They also could probably fly circles around this "Gulfstream Girl."

But hey, there are plenty of two's who suddenly are ten's since they're on the cover of People magazine.

Ha, I wish I remember who this was.

Well for the obvious reasons if you are an aviator. But when you see the real him, it makes you sick to your stomach.

I'll back that up with two personal experiences. I won't go into detail but both instances involve children and volunteering at aviation related charitable events. In both cases, he acted like a real schmuck. In one case it was my 10 yr old nephew and several friends and families which were the recipients of his boorish behaviors. Yeager is a real cad.

I thought she was PIC typed? Her FB says she's a pilot in command although I am 100% sure she is not signing for flights as captain lol.

Per her FAA record online...I guess she is PIC typed. Doesn't mean her training or testing was legit, but it is a legit type.

A monkey could get a type at most of the school houses.

Yeah uhm also they generally give out ATPs with a PIC type. Which suggests to me that she might be a hair shy of the mins, which further suggests to me that she's a serious, no-joke Gulfstream PIC like I'm a freaking astronaut.
