SkyWest picking up a new type

With all the hubbub over the news, I'm wondering what in the world is Bombardier doing? With all the resources going into the C-Series, and not much happening with the CRJ anymore (or the Dash for that matter), that's a pretty big gamble, and it seems Embraer is doing to them what Airbus did to Boeing a few years back before Boeing got its act together.

Or maybe my perception is rather blurry. :)

The C- Series actually looks pretty cool. Those are some pretty big engines.

That's going to look AWESOME in someone's Express or Connection livery.

It has too many seats for a regional. I think the smallest version has 119 seats. Republic is the only one with potential orders for the medium version. Who knows where they'll put them. Maybe Frontier replacements? I think this is Bombardiers attempt to compete with Boeing and Airbus in the small narrow body market.

But it's an RJ. How can it compete with Boeing and Airbus? They don't make RJ's.

So, because its built by a manufacturer of RJs, its automatically an RJ? Its not be marketed as an RJ. Its being pitched as a medium range airliner. The 737 and A319/320 are medium range airliners.

They're both 76ers. The main difference is more head room and carry-on bag room. And the 900 has a slightly better seat/mile cost. But customers apparently like the headroom more than a cheaper ticket.
