Family Member wants airplane buying advice, $750k budget

Correct me if I am wrong but is MItsu buying back the data plates for MU-2's and trying to kill them off? I know a few freighter operators have dumped the MU-2's.

Sort of true. They're certainly anxious to be done with the liability on the things, but the freight sell off has, I think, more to do with lack of demand than with pressure from Mitsubishi. And there are still tons of spares out there floating around. Unlike, I'm told, the Cheyenne series...

I also like the King Air 200

What's not to like!? 1950s technology that you can have...TODAY! It's the Harley of the skies. Except it's not loud, or cool.

you may also want to look at TMC Jets and see what that would cost for the hours he wants to fly a year.

TMC...well, the pilots may not be happy, but at least you'll know they're sober!

Don't hate me. He ended up with this:

I didn't really play a part in the process since I know jack squat about this class of airplane. I referred him to a well known king air "buyer's agent" and this is what he got, a 1980 BE-200. I peeked in the cockpit just a little and it looked pretty nice, dual garmin 430/530 type systems. I have no idea how much he ended up spending, but it does ride nicely and is quieter in flight that I expected. There were two pilots in it for the delivery so I just rode as dead weight for 20 minutes in the back during the demo for the owner.

If he had a 750k buying budget I hope he realizes the costs related to maintaining and operating a turbine powered aircraft.

Very nice. I have no idea if it's the right airplane for him or not, but congrats on getting a deal done! Now he'll learn a ton, good, bad, and otherwise, and be even happier with his second aircraft I'm sure.
